An engineering company specializing in the installations, repair, and maintenance of diesel engines and turbochargers for the
marine, power, locomotive, and generator industries is looking for a Technical Sales Manager to join their team in Montague Gardens, Cape Town.
Duties & Responsibilities Business DevelopmentActively looks at available tenders and executes same timeously.
Conduct market surveys, reports, and update the Management about regional market development.
Develop/implement sales plans and advertising strategies in line with the business plan.
Establish sales force objectives and quotas; prepare sales plans and budgets; establish the size and organization of the sales force.
Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
Initiates and coordinates the development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
Estimate demand and prepare sales forecasts.
New business development including signing new clients.
Prospecting, qualifying, and evaluating potential clients.
SalesEnsure that sales targets are met.
Ensure that the sales margins are in line with agreed margins.
Determine price schedules and discount rates.
Analyse sales statistics gathered by staff to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitor the preferences of customers.
Follow-up on sales leads.
Signing new business and following up on sales leads.
Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.
Maintains accurate records of all prices, sales, and activity reports.
Confer with potential customers regarding spare part needs and advise customers on types and amounts in cooperation with Technical.
Set up service agreements and/or contracts with customers.
Advise clients on the company's policies and sales procedures to ensure the functional effectiveness of the business.
Establish the customer requirements.
Buying & controllingPlanning of order intake for specific market segment.
Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
Analyse market or delivery systems.
Monitor customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts.
Direct and coordinate activities of departmental staff.
Evaluate product quality for sales activities.
Monitor consumer or marketing trends.
Customer relationshipsEnsure that customer inquiries, orders, and complaints are responded to promptly and satisfactorily.
Maintains contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
Professionally present the company, to negotiate on its behalf.
AdministrationManagement of the sales team as well as new clients.
Coordinate subordinates' leave periods.
Ensure that proper filing systems and records are maintained.
The incumbent also assists in solving problems that affect the department's service, efficiency, and productivity.
Network management and administration.
Management and LeadershipManage the activities of subordinates.
Set meaningful goals and objectives to agreed performance levels of subordinates and review progress at regular intervals.
Implementation of reporting structures for staff (visit schedules, call reports, monthly sales reports
Motivate staff to respond to the pressure of work.
Analyse subordinate training needs and methods to meet such needs and make recommendations to the Manager for skills & development.
Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
As the manager of the section, he/she directs the team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values.
Ad hoc dutiesEnsure that all activities are per corporate regulations and policies, code of conduct, and applicable law.
Ensure that health & safety requirements are met and adhered to.
 
Minimum Requirements MUST have Marine Sales experience.Grade 12 (Matric).Qualified Artisan (Diesel Fitter/ Mechanic/ Mechatronics).Relevant Sales experience with a successful track record.At least 5 years of experience in a similar role. Note: Salary will be determined based on experience and skill level.
