We are developing and expanding our Acute Children’s Nursing team in NHS Fife – come and join us.
An opportunity has arisen within the Acute Children’s Unit for experienced and newly qualified Band 5 staff nurses to join our friendly and dynamic children’s nursing team. The Children’s Unit consists of a 24 bedded inpatient medical/surgical ward, a 3 bedded Paediatric High Dependency Unit, 24-hour Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Area and an adjoining Paediatric Ambulatory Care and Out-patient department at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. An additional out-patient service is also provided from our Children & Young Person’s Unit at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.
You will be enthusiastic children’s nurses who possess excellent communication and problem solving skills, are motivated, proactive, flexible and able to work under their own direction and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team. An awareness of the Paediatric Scottish Patient Safety Programme would be advantageous as would a willingness to extend your role to meet the needs of the children and our service (eg. Development of cannulation / venepuncture skills).
We offer a robust induction and education programme for all staff and expect staff to maintain their personal professional development to an acceptable level. We will also offer you a 2 week supernummery orientation programme working within each of our service area’s.
