Purpose of Role: The successful candidate will manage internal and external stakeholder relationships and provide effective leadership and management of the Strategic Sourcing function and deliver to expectation.

Strategy, Processes and Systems: Develop and execute the strategic sourcing strategy in line with the broader Supply Chain strategic objectives;
Develop and implement continuous improvement on sourcing and procurement processes;
Works collaboratively with the broader supply chain in the development of formation of strategic sourcing agreements;
Responsible for purchasing procedures and audit requirements;
Assists in the development of internal policies and tools necessary to implement strategic sourcing initiatives and assists in prioritizing strategic sourcing initiatives;
Ensure supplier master data is accurately maintained e.g. Preferred suppliers; purchasing price lists, BBBEE ratings etc.
Lead the sourcing, Request for Information and Request for Quote processes for the business requirements, including the development and composing of bid specifications;
Driving a fair and transparent tendering process;
To drive transformation and grow preferential procurement;
Analyze bid responses to determine the most responsive and responsible bidder to optimize total cost of ownership;
Analyze spend data/trends to identify and develop overall strategic sourcing initiatives which meet the needs of WMA and recommend agreement formation the Procurement Manager based on research of total spend, end-user impact, feedback and activity along with marketplace analysis;
Recommends and justifies strategic sourcing initiatives and e-procurement supplier enablement initiatives by using data mining tools to conduct spend analysis, prepare supporting reports/spreadsheets, comparisons;
Commodity & spend analysis, communication and decision making: Develops and maintains awareness of changing commodity-related business trends in the marketplace and the possible impact to WMA;
Perform spend analysis on direct and indirect spend;
Contract Negotiation, Implement and Management: Review and negotiate strategic sourcing agreements and any changes in vendor contracts in accordance with Weir PLC and South African rules and regulations;
Negotiate and maintain contracts for all WMA suppliers;
Ensure that agreements effectively mitigate risk exposure to WMA;
Ensure implementation of agreements and contracts in time before services commend;
Decides if proposed contract changes and modifications are reasonable and in the best interest of WMA;
Decides if recurring purchases are appropriate for strategic sourcing agreement/initiatives;
Defends and/or justifies an award of a formal bid or proposal in the event of formal protest filed by a vendor/contractor with support of Procurement Manager;
Negotiates with vendors/contractors to obtain maximum benefit to WMA from contracts;
To drive cost reduction & cost containment across the direct and indirect spend portfolios;
Conduct regular contact/meetings with key suppliers and feedback on issues/problems at suppliers;
Applies negotiation skills to resolve vendor disputes with an acceptable outcome for both parties;
Assist in monitoring and tracking vendor performance through periodic financial reviews, product performance, customer satisfaction surveys and customer outreach;
Decides appropriate resolutions to problems that may arise during the strategic sourcing contracting process by mediating disputes between WMA and the vendor/contractor;
Participate and perform supplier evaluation and audits;
Measure the effectiveness of the supplier contracts and provide frequent feedback to the supply chain management team;
To effectively manage internal and external stakeholder relationships;
To provide effective leadership and management of the Strategic Sourcing team and enable it to deliver to expectation;
Ensure adherence of all HSE and housekeeping requirements;
Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times;
BBBEE Supplier and Enterprise Development;
Preferential Procurement;
data collection and reporting;
Reporting Preparing and communicating monthly Procurement reports
Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Masters/Honours Preferably or BCom (Economics/Logistics)
Commercial Law & Contract Management Experience. 
Critical thinker and problem solving skills
Demonstrate high quality of work in the form of (report writing, Oral and written presentations)
