Sales Operations and Events Manager Job Locations ZA-Johannesburg ID 2020-6874 Introduction The Economist Corporate Network (ECN) is the briefing and networking service of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Through our members-only c-suite forums we help international firms understand the political, economic and business environments of the high-growth markets where they operate. We work with them to assess risks, opportunities, trends and issues of importance and how to respond to them. The Economist Corporate Network (ECN) is seeking a part time (5 half-days/week) Sales Operations and Logistics specialist for its network in Johannesburg. As the sole support person for the business in the SSA region the role is a critical, customer-facing admin position with a wide remit which requires advanced English skills (written & spoken). The exact hours to be worked are quite felxible within standard business hours but the successful applicant may be asked to work up to 2 early mornings/month to deliver our breakfast events programme. Accountabilities How will you contribute? 1. SALES & ADMIN Renewals: Following up and processing renewal agreements with members of our network Arrangement of client meetings for Editorial directors New sales and renewals: managing SF and compiling materials (signed contracts, approvals, vendor/supplier) to be sent to Finance First and general point of contact for all incoming client and member inquiries and internal co-ordination of the responses Managing the respective customer service ECN email boxes Liaising with The Economist magazine unit on all subscription matters and online subscriptions Handling invoices (coding, peoplesoft etc.) From suppliers (hotels, couriers, speakers,…) Sending welcome e-packs to new members Budget: forecast, reporting and maintenance responsibility Updating meeting Cost Sheet on a monthly basis and managing the event budget Keeping calendars/meeting invite folders updated Keeping the dashboard file updated Compiling (and update every month) the respective city membership list Co-ordinate and manage the communication flow between all departments – management, editorial, research, sales and account management, marketing, finance, administration and operations. All Database management 2. LOGISTICS Direction, oversight and co-ordination to the use and contracting of outside suppliers Logistics/hotel arrangements & price negotiations Preparing meeting invites Sending out reminders/meeting notices to members Registration details in Glueup Assisting in preparing meeting materials prior to meetings (liaising with Mktg when necessary, RSF, papers, decks, social media ads) Being present at the meetings and assisting with the room set-up and registration Updating attendance in Glueup, Gdoc, SF.com after each meeting Compiling evaluation results when needed 3. GLUEUP WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT Creating meeting details on the website. Uploading relevant meeting Creating and amending membership account and contacts for members Assisting members who encounter difficulties in logging in and using it for event registration Assorted Glueup- (and, app-) related tasks 4. VIEWSLETTER Manage all outgoing digital client communications Manage all non-content-related aspects & liaise with colleagues and Marketing to include links, such as papers etc. 5. MANAGING RELATIONSHIPS WITH REGIONAL STAKEHOLDERS Outreach and verbal and written communication with regional stakeholders (ECN members, prospects, government offices, experts, speakers, etc) in local language Managing/maintaining contact information of regional stakeholders for outreach for outbound opportunity events Provide management support to the global operation team together with other regions' operation managers.
