Vacancy: Junior Software Developer

Overall Purpose of the Job:The Junior Software developer will design, create, maintain and implement software systems, which includes the architecture of applications, databases and systems for the Group. The Junior Software Developer will also perform ad-hoc Database Administrator duties to ensure system efficiencies. They will assist with the resolution of incidents and development requests in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements and Operational Level Agreements as it relates to any databases and applications within the Group.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:
Assessing internal client needs and using tools to address the client needs in line with the Group strategy to develop efficient systems/applications/databases.
Producing efficient code based on requirements
Troubleshooting, debugging, maintaining and improving existing software
Ensuring that all data is intelligently stored and processed
Structure company data
Define indexing, procedures, functions and other parameters
Check and evaluate feasibility and costs of implementation
Prepare design specifications and functional documentations for assigned projects
Develop database tables and dictionaries.
Ensure data quality and integrity in databases
Identifying any issues and provide corrective measures as it relates to databases, including any troubleshooting where required
Testing and evaluating solutions.
Ensure availability of data to authorized users, including the assigning of users’ rights.
Pro-active ticket status updates and escalation/follow ups where applicable
Verify resolution with end-users and resolve assigned Incidents and Service Requests
Collaborate with other work streams to troubleshoot and restore services in the event of outages
Participate in Post-Mortem/Root Cause Analysis after each event to mitigate problem recurrence
Review records produced by team members and provide recommendations for improvement and enhance processes where applicable.

Education and Experience
Education:
Minimum Grade12 qualification or equivalent
Information Systems or equivalent IT tertiary qualification (Advantageous)
Software development in various relevant programming languages (.NET, C#, C++, ASP, VB, Core, Python, Devops, PHP, HTML, CSS, Java Script)
Knowledge of Visual studio development standards
SQL Database programming
SQL Database Administration
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and implementation standards
Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL (advantage)
