Assistant Director of Engineering - Luxury 5* Property - Middle East

Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking a Deputy Technical Officer for a luxury property based in the Middle East. The selected candidate will need to have several years of experience at a senior level in the engineering department onboard cruise ships or large private yachts, in luxury hotels or on large private estates. They will also need to have a degree in a related engineering discipline or chief engineer certification from the merchant navy or yacht sector.
What we are looking for:
Experience of supporting, organizing and managing a maintenance team of more than 20 persons.
Able to oversee construction work and manage projects independently. Knowledge of best practices for construction – electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry and general construction, with an eye for detail and workmanship.
Expertise in more than one of the following skills:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Civil Engineering
HVAC
Electronics and AVIT
Plumbing and Pipework.
Ability to contract, programme and oversee maintenance and construction work performed by external contractors
Excel / Word / Email skills and experience of writing documentation for the compilation of manuals and management systems
Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential
What will you do?
Principal duties are to support the Chief Technical Officer in the management of the Technical Department personnel on duty, prioritise jobs and programme daily work.
Monitor the efficient and safe operation of all mechanical and electrical equipment essential to the day-to-day operation of a private estate and oversee the repairs and maintenance conducted by contractors.
Observe and report on the state of repair of buildings, plant and machinery and assign tasks to be conducted by the Technical Department staff.
Responsible for monitoring the operations of Technical Department personnel with specific attention to the quality of work for the estate's on-going improvements.
Assistant to the Chief Technical Officer and provides support to on-site personnel with respect to maintenance issues, documentation, client and contractor interface, equipment sourcing and purchase, movement and storage of goods and all aspects of site logistics.
