Were seeking a competent Systems Administrator responsible for managing, upgrading, and maintaining our businesss software, hardware, and networks. The successful candidate will have the following key responsibilities: Configuration of hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. based on standards and project/operational requirements Daily system monitoring to ensure the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups Regular backup monitoring and verification of the integrity and availability of all backup resources Regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions Installation of new and rebuilding of existing servers while maintaining installation and configuration procedures Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks Identifying approaches that leverage the companys resources and provide economies of scale Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures and coordination and communication with impacted business units and escalating where necessary Applying OS patches and upgrades regularly, and upgrading administrative tools and utilities Configuring/adding new services as necessary Performing periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning Performing ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required Configuring CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required Installing and maintaining firewall access rules and policies Monitoring communication links Documentation of procedures and technical implementation Change control Requirements The ideal candidate should have the following critical skills/competencies: Solutions-driven Excellent problem-solving and accuracy skills Strong analytical skills Meticulous attention to detail Self-starter, motivated, takes initiative, and can work independently Excellent communicator with all levels in an organization (verbal and written) Confident in operating in a dynamic environment Ability to adapt to different situations as they arise (adaptive thinking) Ability to operate in a team environment Ability to prioritize deliverables and workload accordingly (good organizational skills) In terms of role requirements, the candidate should have: Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role Minimum 3 years technical support experience Experience with databases, networks (LAN & WAN), and patch management Good understanding of VOIP and associated Voice solutions Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery Have a strong grasp of computer security (e.g. firewalls and intrusion detection systems) Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms 2-3 years experience as a server administrator Education and Applicable Systems Experience: Grade 12 Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Diploma or Degree) MCP, MCSE Additional requirements that would be advantageous: A+ N+ MCSA 3-4 years experience as a Server Administrator Cybersecurity certifications or experience.
