Surgical Theatre Technician

A vacancy exists for a Surgical Theatre Technician based at Life Cosmos Hospital, Mpumalanga, reporting to Clara Vickory, Theatre Matron.

The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the theatre and ensure quality service to all clients

Critical Outputs

Effective preparation of the pre-operative theatre environment according to organisational standards.

Effective management of the non-sterile operating theatre environment for optimum patient care.

Support the registered professional in the sterile field during the operative phase.

Effective quality management and customer care

Conduct basic duties as allocated by the Unit Manager

Ensuring that unit is run according to acceptable legal standards

Maintaining sound relationships and communication with patients, relatives and the multi- disciplinary Team

Building professional relationships with doctors to promote patient-doctor interaction

Maintaining all Health, Safety and Infection Control Standards

Requirements

Grade 12

Must have prior experience in the private healthcare setting in a similar position

A Qualification in Engineering science and electro-technology will be advantageous

Understanding of private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players

Competencies required: Strong customer orientation, team player, very energetic, well organized

Must be able to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment

Strong interpersonal skills required

Must be capable to take care of, manage and operate all flexible and rigid scopes and scope system

Must be willing to work flexi-hours as required in the unit
