SENIOR RESEARCH TECHNICIAN: FIELDWORKERS – 4 POSTS Duration: 2 Year Contract The South African Medical Research Council's Gender and Health Research Unit has been awarded funding from Wellcome Trust for a large study, entitled: Fediša Modikologo which aims to describe the impact of severe intimate partner violence on women and their families, to understand risk factors for intimate partner femicide, and drivers of intergenerational cycling of violence.
Suitably qualified and experienced fieldworkers are needed to screen, recruit, and enroll research participants, to complete informed consent procedures, undertake interviews and follow up participants as per the protocol and will be based at the Modimolle: Waterberg research site.
The unit will recruit and appoint applicants with start dates on 01 June 2024.
Responsibilities: • Engage in planning around recruitment and retention.
• Screen, recruit and enroll participants.
• Set-up and schedule follow-up appointments with participants, as needed.
• Conduct informed consent procedures with participants.
• Conduct face to face interviews with participants
• Reimbursement of participants and ensure relevant forms completed.
Core Requirements:
• Grade 12/Matric or similar relevant qualification or higher
• Experience with conducting health research interviews.
• Understanding trauma caused by gender-based violence.
• Fluency in English and Sepedi or Setswana
Advantageous: • 2 -3 years Diploma or degree
• Experience working with gender-based violence research.
