An extensive suite of enhanced 3-D design tools and modeling software allow our engineering team to visualize all aspects of plant development.Job DescriptionPRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Manager Projects Control, you will work as a Senior Project Planner to liaise with the project team and sub-contractors regarding trends and forecasting of a project's progress.You Will Be Expected ToAssist in formulating and implementation of planning methodologies, policies, procedures and best practices.Assist in aligning risk strategy with planning strategyStay abreast of new trends and innovationsTo Understand The Scope Of Work ByStudying client scoping documentation regarding the projectObtaining estimates of the project from Estimating departmentSupport Project team during the initial phase of order planning and agreeing upon an adequate control systemTo Develop a Baseline Schedule ByDeveloping and/or understanding the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)Planning the work on an area-by-area basis (front end schedule)Developing detailed plan after receiving deliverables from project teamApplying industry best practices to the development of the scheduleDeveloping a Schedule Management PlanDeveloping a basis for the schedule (Basis of Schedule)Finalizing overall execution scheduleFinalizing the baseline scheduleTo Develop Analysis/monitoring Tools ByDeveloping and maintain critical path/near critical path analysisPerform a constructability reviewDevelop Performance IndexesDevelop and maintaining S-Curves for all sections of the schedule to be analysed and included in reportingTo continuously monitor and/or adjust the project schedules for the duration of a project by:Updating schedulesManaging change controlReport regularly occurrences to the business and the clientKeep the project manager up to date with critical items requiring attention to keep the project on trackProvide information to Cost Engineering as requiredUtilizing Earned Value as a method of measurementTo Generate a Close-out Report ByReporting history of project at the end of the project and establishing a record or databaseReporting lessons learned that can be used by future projectsTo Provide Adequate Feedback ByUpdating the project plan and preparing a detailed analysis of variances and situations with particular problemsPreparing information reports providing progress as required by the project teamCreating awareness on delays and priorities identified to the Project team and management and suggest possible corrective actionActively promote the Company's professional image, both internally & externallyImplement and manage adhoc projects and duties as may be required and assigned from time to time.Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.Required Skills / KnowledgeProject Life cycle: Knowledge of the main project phasesRisk analysis: Ability to identify project and activates risks from any point of viewControlling, scheduling & planning software: Familiarity and use of specific scheduling & planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.)Change management: Ability to effectively and efficiently manage changes during the course of the projectCommercial Principles: Understanding of contract types and of their main featuresPlanning & Scheduling: Ability to plan using tools, methods and best practices.Legislation & Standards: Knowledge of sector specific law e.g. Engineering, safety etc. and standard specifications e.g. Plant layout requirements etc.Project Management: Knowledge of basic project management methods and all project lifecycle phasesCost control: Knowledge of cost engineering principles: total cost management and total quality management etc.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONSGrade 12Minimum 3 years qualification i.e. Engineering, Construction will be advantageousPMI, AACEI certification will be advantagesSkills And ExperienceThe ideal candidate for this position will be a person with sufficient maturity to command respect from those he/she deals with, whilst possessing enough energy and passion. A successful history and background in project engineering, supported by minimum 3 years qualification i.e. Engineering, Construction with 5-10 years' experience within an EPCM / EPM environment doing projects ideally in the mining and minerals sector. Primavera P6 certification will be an advantage.
