Senior Mechanical Engineer Section: Petrochemical (Cape Town) Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer Section: Petrochemical (Cape Town) Closing Date: Friday, 10 th May 2024 Experience: 8-10 Years Position Outline: Kantey & Templer is in the process of reviewing candidates to fill a Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer Section: Petrochemical based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical engineering design in the field of petrochemical projects. The position has potential for lead mechanical engineer role together with supervision of junior staff members. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical engineering calculations, designs, drawings, solutions to engineering problems, preparation of reports, client liaison, construction knowledge and commissioning.
Skills: Strong understanding of piping and pumping systems.Competence in designing mechanical systems and knowledge of hydraulics required.Preparation of conceptual designs and detailed designs including drawings, calculations, project schedules, cost estimates and datasheets.Knowledge of tender processes regarding mechanical projects.Construction experience with respect to the installation of mechanical systems.Knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes such as ASME, API, SANS etc.Ability to travel to site for site inspections, kick-off meetings, progress meetings.Ability to liaise with key clients regarding mechanical designs.Knowledge of commissioning of mechanical systems.Mentorship of junior staff members in mechanical engineering.Assist with management of projects and staff members.Previous experience within the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Industry would be an advantage.Previous experience with NFPA and firefighting systems would be an advantage.Qualifications: Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) or BEng.PrEng advantageous.Computer Literacy: MS Office,Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD).Personality Profile: Very high level of attention to detail specifically regarding mechanical installations.Self-motivated.Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.Ability to manage junior staff members.Key performance areas will be discussed once the candidate has been interviewed.
