Join us.We're looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to join our busy and highly motivated Resource Consents team.The Queenstown Lakes District is recognised throughout New Zealand and abroad as the home of Outstanding Natural Landscapes. QLDC is the custodian of these landscapes, a critical role on behalf of all New Zealanders and overseas visitors who travel great distances to be amongst them. This is a great opportunity for a senior pragmatic landscape architect looking to either advance their career or take on a more strategic senior role.The core purpose of the role is to assist Council with the landscape aspects of its resource consent Environment Court appeals and to support the resource consenting function through overseeing the landscape aspects of the Council resource consent application process. What you'll be doing / He aha te mahiProviding strategic advice on the landscape matters of a resource consent Environment Court appeal (including input into landscape expert witnesses, reviewing expert landscape evidence, or being the Councils landscape expert witness).Overseeing the landscape peer review process associated with the assessment of resource consent applications, including determining when these are necessary, the scope of the peer review, and undertaking ongoing quality management of the peer reviews received.Supporting the Manager Resource Consents and Team Leaders Resource Consents with resolving landscape related matters.Disseminating to the resource consent and policy planning teams key determinations on landscape matters from Council and Environment Court decisions.Supporting the resource consents team with training and development on landscape related matters. What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to PukekaYou will have a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture (or equivalent) and have a good understanding of the resource consent process (land use and subdivision). Ideally you will have a breadth of experience in preparing landscape assessments to support resource consent applications, and also in undertaking peer reviews of others landscape assessments. As a senior landscape architect practitioner you are likely to have had Environment Court experience, though this is not a pre-requisite for the role. You also do not have to have experience working in the Queenstown Lakes DistrictTo best succeed in this role, you'll have:Membership of the NZILA (or obvious working towards achieving membership).Proven experience (ideally 10+ years) in a landscape architecture role.The ability to think strategically and pragmatically, along with being able to apply judgement/advice based on assessing risk. The ability to break down technical jargon / complex intricate landscape matters to simpler language that non landscape architects can understand.To apply, please follow the link and apply online with your CV and Cover Letter.
