The various Operations directorates in the HSRC, which Information Technology Support Services (IT) forms part of, provides the infrastructural and administrative platform for achieving the organization’s overall goals. The HSRC seeks to appoint a Senior IT Network Engineer on a 5 year contract, to be based at the Pretoria office.

•Actively Manage, Monitor, Diagnose and report on Network and Switch /Router Systems.
•Following up on all Data Centre environmental problems and situations and resolve.
•Respond to client issues logged at a call centre and address queries.
•Act as a point of contact for Data Centre related support issues.
•Track and log all Data Centre issues and report progress and resolution.
•Schedule and monitor maintenance procedures and processes on related systems in the data centre.
•Constantly engage and work with other team members to maintain uptimes of the data centre.
•Perform and develop a preventative maintenance programme for local and remote sites.
•Perform and record routine maintenance procedures of data centre systems.
•Perform on-going Data Centre space and capacity management of all hardware systems
•Co-develop Disaster Recovery Plans, Procedures, Tests and Practices.
•Develop a long term strategic plan for the Data Centre systems and services.
•Provide hardware and software technical support to other HSRC offices and technicians.
•Perform all Data centre server systems updates and patches required to stay compliant.
•Manage all Data Centre related external Vendor Support services.
•Manage all Data Centre hardware life cycle processes and warranties.
•Monitor and record all backup reports on a daily basis and respond to deviations.
•Monitoring and Maintenance of the TENET SANREN network services to the HSRC.
•Management of the network printing server and services.
•Assist in the maintenance of the IT risk register
•Assist in the development and maintenance of the IT security governance process
•Attend to IT security logs assigned by the IT helpdesk
•Remediate IT security vulnerabilities discovered on network devices and operating systems
•Routine checks of application and system security logs to identify and investigate suspected anomalies.
•Implement change requests following proper change management
RequirementsEducational requirements and Experience:
•Matric/Grade 12
•Diploma/ Degree in Computer Science or Engineering at a minimum of NQF6
•MCSE
•A+, N+, VMWare,
•Linux qualification
•Firewall Expertise (SonicWall)Five (5) years minimum experience in the data centre environment
Minimum requirements:
•In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and other network protocols
•Windows security
•Windows desktop system administration
•Systems administration experience i.e. Active Directory, GPO and Windows server
•Antivirus software administration (Sophos)
•UTM Systems
•Cloud architecture and systems
