Our client manufactures, markets and sells tissue and hygiene products through Retail and Business to Business channels in South Africa and neighbouring countries. Its Head Office and operational factories are in Gauteng, Kempton Park.We are seeking a highly capable Senior Buyer.The incumbent will be responsible for purchasing goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met. This role will also proactively investigate Value Engineering opportunities as vetting pricing provides by contractors on materials and services quotes. The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading negotiations, supplier management and independently identifying cost-saving opportunities and vendor risks.THE POSITION ENTAILS:Sourcing and purchasing raw materials, components, or finished goods from suppliers and includes price negotiations, terms, and other details of these transactionsMAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:· Lead the sourcing and supplier selection activities· Negotiate contracts with vendors to purchase materials and services at the best price possible and negotiate clear, robust, and favourable terms and conditions in an appropriate contract format (SLA'S)· Ensure Inventory Levels (Raw Materials / Production Consumables, Maintenance Spares and Bought-in Products) are maintained in conjunction with Supply Planner and Stores Supervisor.· Ensure MRO (Maintenance / Repairs and Operations) purchasing is efficient and cost effective.· Prepare RFP and Comparison of Proposal to determine which ones will be accepted based on price, delivery times, and other criteria.· Performing cost / quality benchmarking analysis.· Perform supplier market/category/supply risk analysis and develop Total Cost Ownership (TCO) models to identify improvement opportunities.· Expediting POs against a schedule of priorities whilst keeping business stakeholders appraised.· Effectively manage supplier selection to meet quality, service, delivery, cost, risk mitigation, and supplier capabilities to meet requirements· Manage the supply chain risks with the Group Supply Chain manager and derive action plans to secure supply of Materials, Production Consumables and Spares.· Drive Procurement Cost Saving program.· Develop comprehensive product cost driver tool to evaluate and negotiate prices· Continually evaluate industry trends to determine potential impact on the business and initiate action with the Group Supply Chain Manager to ensure reliable continued flow of materials to the company· Implement procurement policies, procedures, strategies, materials management systems, and supporting programs where required· Monthly Reporting on Procurement Spend, Savings and Key Activities.YOUR CHALLENGE:To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the ability to:· Be self-confident, take initiative and work independently· Good interpersonal skills, both internal and external (suppliers)· Self-disciplined & self-motivated· Ability to adhere to procedures and controls· Good administration skills· Self-confident, problem solving· ERP system knowledge, preferably Syspro, but not a definite requirement We are specifically looking for a person with great customer service and negotiation skills.· The incumbent will have demonstrated the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively to address challenges, and have a positive influence on company culture.YOUR BACKGROUND:· Supply Chain qualification (B-degree) SAPICS certification would be advantageous.· 10 years' experience in a Senior Procurement role· Min 5 years' Experience within a manufacturing environment· Global sourcing experience will be an advantage· Good experience of sourcing (market analysis & supplier selection), reviewing technical (internal customer & customer market needs) and market trends & purchasing strategiesJob Type: Full-timeSalary: R35000,00 - R45000,00 per month#J-18808-Ljbffr
