Job Purpose
To perform and manage Health and safety duties and monitor safe working environment. 
Minimum Requirements and Skills
Formal safety qualification/certificate i.e. NADSAM or SAMTRAC/NEBOSH/similar Proven knowledge of OHSA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 9001 either by formal qualification/certificate or work experience Minimum of 5-10 years work experience within an HSE field Registration with Saiosh would be advantageous. Job Specification
Co-ordinate all health and safety activities on site Monitor and control all activities by external contractors Ensure to the best of his/her ability that staff is protected at all times by maintaining a healthy, safe and environmental friendly work environment. Ensure laboratory activities are in compliance with the requirements of the Company Health and Safety Management System and Departmental procedures at all times. Compile, implement and maintain the Departmental Health and Safety Management Manual containing supporting documentation which is in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act. Investigate and perform Root cause analysis on all relevant incidents and to ensure thorough documentation thereof To train and develop each member of staff to ensure that all staff is trained on health and safety procedures. Ensure HSE Reps perform daily and monthly duties Provide safety inductions to all new staff as well as visitors and contractors to the site. Refresher training to be conducted annually. To plan, organise and write new SOP's and also review existing SOP's to ensure that they always contain the latest and accurate information. To co-ordinate and document emergency evacuation drills. To perform and review risk assessments in conjunction with the risk assessment team. To identify all relevant waste streams and ensure waste is properly segregated for correct disposal. Conduct daily safety walks to identify and rectify unsafe conditions. Conduct monthly safety checks per area and address and action concerns. Establish and coordinate Safety Toolbox Talks monthly. Ensure contractor files are kept and updated accordingly. Communicate safety alerts to all staff members. Roll out safety campaigns on issues identified by group or within. Chair monthly safety meetings with HSE committee members. Perform monthly PTO's (Planned task observations) on all staff members on a rotational basis. Issue and keep record of all work permits Coordinate hygiene monitoring and environmental monitoring as per OHSA Ensure compliance with OHSA and other legal requirements including by-laws and COID. Ensure compliance to ISO 45001, 14001 and ISO 9001 Comply with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices Comply with Safety, Health and Environment standards. Develop the Health & Safety roadmap for M&L Labs from the overall Bureau Veritas strategy Translate the Bureau Veritas Health & Safety standards into M&L Labs specific policies, standards, processes and procedures Ensure compliance to Own, manage and update Health & Safety standards and system (continuously evaluate and update/upgrade) Coordinate and conduct relevant Health & Safety audits including supplier audits Coordinate and perform regular Health & Safety training and awareness campaigns, audits including supplier audits Facilitate and manage the ISO certification Assures support and control of labs in complying to the Health & Safety standards, OSH Acts and related regulatory requirements Assures regular required safety risks assessments and audits on equipment's, laboratories and processes Develop employee wellness strategies and plans Provide specialist Health & Safety support Drive continual business improvement & change management Observe and ensure compliance with governance and established policies, systems, procedures and practices * This list is not exhaustive and is subject to change.
