Brief DescriptionMain Purpose:
The successful candidate will be required to develop and implement a blended learning curriculum. The curriculum will use project-based learning to guide health science students through the development of academic skills, personal skills, and inter-professional competencies to improve student retention and throughput rates. The successful candidate will also be expected to identify barriers to student learning and implementing appropriate interventions that facilitate students’ successful transition into and within the University environment.
Requirements include:
·Masters in Educational Psychology (minimum 3 years working experience).
·Current and valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
·Experience in development and delivery of academic support programmes.
·Experience of, and good knowledge of the higher education environment.
·Knowledge and experience in using online Learning Management Systems will be an added advantage.
Responsibilities:The successful applicant will be expected to:
Develop blended learning modules that will use interprofessional, project-based learning to guide health science students through the development of academic and personal skills.
Implement the blended learning curriculum.
Develop projects that facilitate development of inter-professional competencies for health science students.
Identify barriers to student learning and implement appropriate interventions that facilitate students’ successful transition into and within the University environment, including clinical spaces;
Identify, train and supervise tutors for the blended learning project.
Coordinate the blended learning tutoring programme to ensure the ongoing facilitation of student learning and development;
Assist with the recruitment, training and development of peer mentors;
Put in place strategies to monitor and evaluate, as well as assist with research related to Transition Success Programme;
Any other responsibilities that are related to the functions of the Office of Student Success, as determined by the OSS Manager.
