About the RoleThe SAER Program Coordinator is responsible to the SAER Coordinator for all aspects of student health and well-being and SAER at Fitzroy Valley DHS, including students who have learning disabilities and learning difficulties. The SAER Program Coordinator is a member of the School Leadership team and ensures we maintain inclusive practices that support engaged and successful learners.The successful applicant will coordinate Interagency support for SAER students, follow SAER policy and procedures and will communicate these to staff. You will manage referrals, case conferences and liaise as needed. Must have a good understanding of working with special needs and proven ability to improve outcomes through individualised planning and reporting. In this role you will be responsible for: The analysis and use of the SAER data;Working with staff to plan improvement;Assisting teachers to identify and plan for SAER students;Creating and maintaining the SAER register;Assisting teachers to write IEPs, BMPs and GEPs;Supporting Disability resourcing and monitoring;Coordinating Special Education Needs (SEN) reporting; andConsultation and referrals to School Psychologist and the SSEN:BE team. To be successful in this role you will have a sound understanding of legislative, compliance and registration requirements and processes as they relate to the public education sector. In addition to this you will have the ability to create and maintain a safe, orderly, positive, and effective learning and working environment and have the ability to make informed objective judgments.Our SchoolFitzroy Valley DHS enrols students from Kindergarten to Year 12 with students coming from many communities in and around Fitzroy Crossing. Our school has predominantly Aboriginal students enrolled and has a strong focus on developing literacy and numeracy skills.
