The successful candidate must also provide evidence of at least fifteen publications in accredited, peer reviewed journals / book publications / chapters in a book as well as evidence of supervision of four Masters or PhD students to completion. For appointment as an Associate Professor A d octoral degree in Criminology/ Policing/ Corrections/ Criminal Justice/ Victimology coupled with at least seven (7) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or ten(10) years professional experience. The successful candidate must also provide evidence of at least ten (10) publications in accredited, peer reviewed journals / book publications / chapters in a book. Candidate should have supervised at least four Masters or PhD students to completion. For appointment as a Senior Lecturer A Doctoral Degree in Criminology/ Policing/ Corrections/ Criminal Justice/ Victimology coupled with at least five (5) years teaching experience in a tertiary institution or seven(7) years professional experience. The successful candidate must also provide evidence of at least five (5) publications in accredited, peer reviewed journals / book publications / chapters in a book. Duties Teach courses in subject area particularly criminology and victimology Work with students who are studying for a Bachelor of Criminal Justice or those taking classes to improve their knowledge or career skills Develop an instructional plan (known as a course outline or syllabus) for the course(s) to be taught and ensure that it meets the school and department standards Plan lessons and assignments Work with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum for a Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree or certificate program involving a series of courses Assess students’ progress by grading papers, tests, and other work Advise students on study skills and goal achievements Conduct research and experiments to advance knowledge in criminal justice field Supervise graduate students who are working toward Honors/ Masters degrees Publish original research and analysis in books and academic journals Serve on academic and administrative committees that review and recommend policies, make budget decisions, or advise on hiring and promotions within their department The University of Venda is an equal opportunity employer committed to the principles of Employment Equity.
