One Family.Key Accountabilities/OutcomesEntrench a quality ethos that aligns to the brand promise, customer requirements and specifications:Responsible for reporting any problems with the food safety management system to the QA manager and the Plant Manager.Produce products in accordance with a strict adherence to the company's product specification sheets.Drive the implementation of the quality strategy and subsequent action plans.Adherence and compliance to all food safety regulations in the industry.Implement action plans to maintain or improve the quality of products packed.Review and sign-off in process quality documents on a daily basis.Ensure GMP & Cleaning Standards are adhered to at all times.Update and review of Quality Risk Assessments to ensure relevant risks are identified, managed, controlled and/ or eliminated.Create an operating environment that is conducive to the safe and sustainable manufacture of products:Implement and drive near miss reporting to pro-actively eliminate risks.Drive a "Safety Culture" at all times.Drive the implementation of the SHE Strategy and subsequent action plans.Attend quarterly SHE Meetings and ensure compliance to all company projects or regulations agreed to and general OHS associated actions.Conduct risk assessments for all processes and ensure compliance with resultant actions needed to mitigate said risks.Adhere to waste management practices as part of the company's global waste management initiatives.Ensure that equipment is used as prescribed and protected from damage by creating SOPs in conjunction with engineering, training on those SOPs for all relevant associates, and enforcing adherence to the SOPs.Update SOPs for equipment operation and cleaning as required from time to time to ensure it is used correctly and cleaned without causing damage.Ensure that SOPs are re-issued annually and that retraining, and refreshers take place each year, and submit signed SOPs annually to HR to include in HR training files.Annually update job descriptions for each level in the matrix, and re-issue, resign and submit to HR to include in HR files.Manage production processes:A daily line meeting (DLM) is implemented to discuss daily production requirements/ materials/ people management.Timeous communication of breakdowns to alleviate the possibility of lost production time.Timely and accurately updating of relevant performance matrices and dashboards.Attend the managers meeting with the problem summaries from the morning meetings each day.Foster a problem-solving mindset, driving root cause analysis for all major and recurring problems.Take ownership of the communication board on your area of accountability, and ensure it is updated daily.Achieve the 6S objectives for the department.Suggest capital improvements to drive down waste and improve efficiency.Deliver on the annual performance and operating plan and its initiatives.Achieve the targets of waste, total yield, schedule attainment, perfect paycheck, and reduced waste kilograms per labour hour.Assist in driving the MRP project, changing and improving plant processes so that SAP is updated frequently with accurate data.Improve line productivity (OEE) by analyzing line performances and taking the necessary action.Actively drive the Continuous Improvement Program by using Lean Manufacturing Methodologies. (TPM, Line Loss Analysis, Kaizen Projects, SMED).Effective manpower scheduling to pack the required production plan and address other business requirements.Manage relevant cost centres to ensure conformance to budget.LeadershipAttend to associate management which includes recruitment, performance management, succession planning and training & development.Effective and timely management of associates times and HR processes on Jarrison and Associate Central. Includes shift changes, leave and overtime approval.Liaise with payroll regarding any termination of contracts, overtime, time and attendance and any other payroll related information.Coach and support activities of Shift Production Supervisors and Team Leaders to achieve the business objectives.Foster an environment of high cross function teamwork and collaboration.Manage team discipline by following prescribed processes.Create a motivating and inspiring environment to bring out the best in associates.Define development plans for all associates using the necessary platforms and processes as a tool to drive performance and accountability.Qualification/Skills/ExperienceTertiary qualification in Production or Operations Management or an equivalent technical qualification.10 years-experience as a Production Manager in an artisanal food environment with emphasis on yeast leavened products.Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact promptly and correctly with efficiency and effectiveness.Previous experience with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing Principles; TPM; 6S; OEE; is a necessity.Computer proficiency in the use of Excel/Word & SAPFull knowledge of applicable legislation regulating the food industry in South AfricaIntegrityGood verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a cold or hot environment, in a working position on the lines.Ability to inspire and motivate the team.Ability to function independently and as part of the team.Self-motivated.Pro-active and inquisitive.Excellent problem solving skills.Excellent emotional and social intelligence skills.Committed to deadlines and quick turnaround times.Excellent communicator with a persuasive manner, able to get agreement with diplomacy and to resolve conflict.Rich Products Corporation South Africa, its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Rich's"), are committed to a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity and will not discriminate against an applicant or employee on the basis of race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, family responsibility, ethnic or social origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, HIV status, conscience, belief, political opinion, culture, language, birth or on any other arbitrary ground.
