Reporting to the General Manager of Manufacturing, the successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the manufacturing plant to achieve the production schedule at the correct cost and to improve associate engagement.Summary of Key Responsibilities:Entrench a Quality Ethos that aligns with the Brand Promise, Customer Requirements, and Specifications:Produce products in accordance with strict adherence to the company's product specification sheets.Drive the implementation of the Quality Strategy and subsequent action plans.Adherence and compliance with all food safety regulations in the industry.Implement action plans to maintain or improve the quality of products packed.Review and sign off "in process" quality documents daily.Ensure GMP and Cleaning Standards are always adhered to.Update and review Quality Risk Assessments to ensure relevant risks are identified, managed, controlled, and/or eliminated.Create an Operating Environment that is conducive to the Safe and Sustainable Manufacture of Products:Implement and drive near-miss reporting to proactively eliminate risks.Always drive a "Safety Culture".Drive the implementation of the SHE Strategy and subsequent action plans.Attend quarterly SHE Meetings and ensure compliance to all company projects/regulations agreed to and general OHS-associated actions.Conduct risk assessments for all processes and ensure compliance with resultant actions needed to mitigate said risks.Adhere to waste management practices as part of the company's global waste management initiatives.Ensure that equipment is used as prescribed and protected from damage by creating SOP's in conjunction with the Engineering department.Conduct training and enforce adherence to the SOP's for all relevant associates.Update SOP's for equipment operation and cleaning as required from time to time.Ensure equipment is used correctly and cleaned without causing damage.Ensure that SOP's are re-issued annually and that retraining and refresher sessions take place each year.Annually update job descriptions for each level in the matrix.Manage Production Processes:A daily line meeting (DLM) is to be implemented to discuss daily production requirements, materials, and people management.Timeous communication of breakdowns to alleviate the possibility of lost production time.Timely and accurate updating of relevant performance matrices and dashboards.Attend the managers meeting daily with the problem summaries from the morning meetings.Foster a problem-solving mindset, driving root cause analysis for all major and recurring problems.Take ownership of the communication board in the area of accountability, and ensure it is updated daily.Achieve the 6S objectives for the department.Suggest capital improvements to drive down waste and improve efficiency.Deliver the annual performance and operating plan and its initiatives.Achieve the targets of waste, total yield, schedule attainment, perfect paycheck, and reduced waste kilograms per labour hour.Assist in driving the MRP project, change and improve plant processes so that SAP is updated frequently with accurate dataImprove Line Productivity (OEE) by analyzing line performances and taking the necessary action.Actively drive the Continuous Improvement Program by using Lean Manufacturing Methodologies. (TPM, Line Loss Analysis, Kaizen Projects, SMED).Effective manpower scheduling to pack the required production plan and address other business requirements.Manage relevant cost centers to ensure conformance to budget.Manage/Lead Team:Attend to associate management which includes recruitment, performance management, succession planning as well as training and development.Effective management of Jarrison and Associate Central systems.Liaise with payroll regarding any termination of contracts, overtime, time and attendance, and any other payroll-related information.Foster an environment of high cross-function teamwork and collaboration.Manage team discipline by following prescribed processes.Define development plans for all Associates using the necessary platforms and processes as a tool to drive performance and accountability.Applicants must meet the following criteria:10 years of experience in a liquids processing environment would be beneficial.Tertiary qualification in Production/Operations Management or an equivalent Technical qualification.Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact promptly and correctly with efficiency and effectiveness.Previous experience with the implementation of TPM Principles; 6S; OEE; is a necessity.Must be proficient in Micro Office Suite and SAP.Full knowledge of applicable legislation regulating the food industry in South Africa.If you meet the above requirements and want to make a career-changing move, apply today by emailing your CV to: ******, you can visit our website to find your next opportunity – www.rporecruitment.co.za or give us a call at 021 180 0776 and ask for Nikki.
