POSITION : JUNIOR PRODUCT DEVELOPERAREA : HOWICK- MIDLANDS KWA-ZULU NATALSALARY : R 10 000 CTC PER MONTHMAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:The primary focus of this role will be to assist the NPD team in making the organisation a leader in Innovation through assisting with new product, packaging and formulation development from research of ideas and idea generation to launch of the product.SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Tertiary Qualification in Food Technology; Food Science, Consumer ScienceAt least 1-2 years experience in Product development, innovation, research and development; marketing.Experience in an FMCG Food environment is ESSENTIAL as well as a passionate "Foodie"Previous experience in food technology withinter-departmental interaction in order to lead the recipe development of new products through the factory from concept to launchComputer literacyPossible shift work and overtime requiredDuties:Technical support to the New Product Development(NPD) teamSupport to the NPD in the management and execution of projects through the factory.Assisting in the management of trials from kitchen to factoryAccurate record of samples prepared in the kitchen for record-keepingSmooth transition from final kitchen recipe approval to recipe master and ensuring it is communicated effectively to all departments thereafter. This will include a paper-trail/ change form for record keepingAssisting the NPD manager and NPD technologist with the coordination of various NPD projectsAssist NPD technologist in developing recipes for new products specific to the requirements of each of our customers.Assist the NPD manager and NPD technologist with loading new recipes and/ or adjusting existing recipes on recipe masterMake up and deliver kitchen samples to customers.Execute exploratory development of new product ideas.Manage documentation relating to but not limited to trials and product development going through the factory/ kitchen; specifically tasting sheets, nutritional analysis, project feedback from customers, couriers, invoices and analytical resultsManages all external testing including but not limited to: nutrition, shelf life, bacillus testingAssists in making kitchen samples for all factory trials and first productionsStock keeping of all tasting cups and packaging for kitchen trialsMaintaining clean and well-organized flavour cupboards and NPD section of the cageAssist NPD manager when preparing for presenting to customers.Assist NPD manager with new product ideas and innovations, contributing to blue-sky meetings and keeping the innovation tunnel fullAssist the NPD technologist in filtering down information related to NPD to relevant departments within the organisation.Briefing in suppliers on new or existing projectsAssist NPD technologist to conduct supplier meetingsPurchase and serve lunches, snacks and other meals for colleagues and other departments that require it.
