A company in Ottery, Cape Town is looking for a Procurement/purchasing manager. Duties & Responsibilities Demonstrates and understands customs and beliefs of various groups or cultures and understands how these differences affect performance and communication. Provides continuous feedback to the Supply Chain Manager on the efficiency of supply and progress against order requirements. Evaluates and report on progress against the plan and provide solutions to problems/ obstacles that may arise. Safety stock management with suppliers to reduce cash flow output to company beforehand and reduce supplier PO changes. Motivates and manages the team to deliver through the consistent and ongoing application of the performance management system Reports on adherence to plan (OTIF) Supports Vendor Management team with supplier performance and efficiency ratings below par. Management of supplier base in terms of quality rating, OTIF, defect rates, adherence to stock level management, PO cycle, technology, innovation, reporting, and lead time management. Consistent evaluation on how to improve the purchasing cycle within parameters given of working capital. Proactively seeks out new opportunities to save costs on incoming raw materials and packaging. Desired Experience & Qualification Preferred 3+ years in procurement for companies with Polymer components. International auditing experience would be to your advantage. Solid understanding and knowledge of BRC, GMP, Quality Assurance, and regulatory principles in a food/polymer manufacturing environment. Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems. Experience in supplier management, focused on performance or effectiveness improvement. Ability to work independently and make decisions based on judgment and integrity. Proven analytical skills and ability to transfer findings into well-written report formats. Experience/training in problem-solving and process improvement methodologies. Ability to work effectively independently and with others to accomplish goals in a challenging environment. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Demonstrates high levels of accountability and adaptability in delivering KPIs. Demonstrates sound judgment and balanced decision-making.
