ROADS AND INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLE PROFESSIONAL OFFICER: PAVEMENT MATERIALS AND REHABILITATIONTCOE SALARY COMMENCING FROM R1174257 PER ANNUM ?REFNO:UMO24/24 Requirements: BSc Civil Engineering / BEng / BTech Civil EngineeringProfessional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (PrEng or PrTechEng)Postgraduate degree in Pavement Engineering would be advantageousMinimum eight (8) years' experience in road rehabilitation middle management: design and construction; project management; pavement engineering; and road materialsA valid Code B driver's licenceProficient in MS OfficeProficiency in the use of currently available pavement analysis and design software will be advantageous.Key performance areas: Project and contract management of a team of both in-house and outsourced professionals, including staff knowledge transfer, educating all staff in districts and depots as well as the consultants and contractors responsible for road rehabilitation and reconstruction projects, roads materials specifications and research, pavement and geotechnical engineering and all materials related requirementsCoordinate and implement investigations on pavement layers for rehabilitation and reconstruction proposals for selected roads within the metropole and compiling short-, medium- and long-term plans and budgets, including design of pavement layers and approving the pavement designs of consultants for appropriate traffic loading and design life of the pavementProject and contract management of small, medium and large road rehabilitation projects using the City's approved policies and systemsCompile in-house tender documents and bid committee participationVet development proposals for the structural design of roadsResponsible for planning and managing expenditure of capital and grant funding budgets in excess of R70 millionInitiate and manage research requirements, keep the directorate up to date with latest national and international advances in pavement engineering, manage the directorate's materials testing and laboratory requirements through external practitioners and liaise with other departments as a member of project technical teamsManage all audit queries and Auditor General reports for contracts and projects.Please apply online at www.capetown.gov.za/careers(external applicants) or via the SAP Portal (internal applicants) unless otherwise stated.
