On-Call Receptionist

JOB SUMMARY: This position provides the first point of contact and direction to APIA Health Center visitors. Excellent customer service at all times is required. It provides reception and administrative support for all programs and services such as primary care, behavioral health, wellness, and visiting specialty clinics. This position is responsible for complete and accurate patient registration, and appointment scheduling in the Cerner Electronic Health Record -EHR. Responsible for maintaining a safe and inviting reception area. Will utilize strong secretarial, communication, organizational, and word processing skills. Must be able to maintain confidentiality in all matters. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Greet all visitors and patients, maintain appointments, waiting room management. Confirmation with patients that all registration information (address, phone number, insurance, etc.) is current in the Cerner Electronic Health Records (EHR)at each office visit. Manage the message center to include answering and screening income phone calls, transferring calls, taking messages. and receiving faxes and delivering to appropriate staff. Ensure clinic records are protected accordingly to our medical records Policy and HIPAA standards. Prepare incoming/outgoing mail, pick-up, date stamp, and distribution of incoming mail. Assist our patients with faxing various needs IE: WIC, LIHEAP, MEDICAID applications to the appropriate entities. Word processing as assigned or as needed.
