The contents of this Circular Minute must be brought to the notice of all eligible officers and employees on your establishment without delay even if they are absent from their normal places of work.
DIRECTIONS TO CANDIDATES:
1. The following documents must be submitted:-
? Application for Employment Form (Form Z.83), which is obtainable at any Government Department OR from the
? Comprehensive CV (with detailed experience) with full record of service, stating duties performed/performing
and years of experience written in full e.g. 01/01/2023.
? Copies of Qualifications, Registration Certificates and updated certificate of service must not be submitted when
applying for employment. Only shortlisted candidates will be requested to bring certified copies on or before the
day of the interview.
2. The Reference Number must be indicated in the column provided on the form Z.83.NB: Failure to comply with the above instructions will disqualify applicants.
3. The appointments are subject to positive outcomes obtained from the State Security Agency (SSA) to the following checks (security clearance (vetting), criminal clearance, credit records, and citizenship), verification of Educational Qualifications by SAQA, verification of previous experience from Employers and verification from the Company Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC).
4. The appointment is subject to positive outcome obtained from NIA to the following checks (security clearance, credit
records, qualification, citizenship and previous experience employment verifications)

.REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST
? Grade 12 Certificate
? Registration certificate with the Health Professions Council South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical
Specialist Paediatrics (FCPaed)Current registration with the HPCSA as a Paediatric Medical
Specialist (2023-2024) or those candidates who have passed their FCPaed Part 2 (must attach
proof) and is currently at the completion of their mmed (must provide proof) are encouraged to
apply
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Appropriate Qualification in the relevant discipline that allows registration as a Medical Specialist with HPCSA. Foreign candidates require 1 year relevant experience after registration with a recognized Foreign Health Professional Council, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service
Appropriate Qualification in the relevant discipline that allows registration as a Medical Specialist with HPCSA plus 5 years after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist. Foreign candidates require 6 years relevant experience after registration with a recognized foreign health professional council, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service. A certificate of service obtained from the HR Department must be attached.
Appropriate Qualification in the relevant discipline that allows registration as a Medical Specialist with HPCSA plus 10 years after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist. Foreign candidates require 11 years relevant experience after registration with a recognized foreign health

? Prior experience in Department of Health, Paediatric/Neonatology (will be an added advantage)
? Certificate of Neonatology will be an added advantage
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
? Basic medical knowledge, with paediatrics, neonatology and child health focus
? Current health and public service legislation, regulation and policy
? Specialist or Sub-specialist medical knowledge, skills & competence in Neonatology/Paediatrics
and child health
? Current health and public service legislation, regulations and policy
? Medical ethics, epidemiology, research and statistics
? Medical education training and experience
? Research publications, research knowledge, skills & competence
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS(Will cover clinical skills, performance, training and supervision and support)
? Participate in the provision of in- and outpatient clinical care at Harry Gwala Regional Neonatal
Hospitals
? Assist with the maintenance of standards of care and implementation of quality
improvement programmes within the department.
? Assist with the supervision and support of registrar's, medical officers, CSOs, interns and
students in the department.
? Participate in the departmental academic programme
? Assist with the administration of a component of the neonatal department in Pietermaritzburg
? Support the departmental activities for the development and training of undergraduate, post
graduate and vocational students
? Assist and participate in research activities as defined within the department
? Will cover clinical skills, performance, training, research and supervision & support
? Assist with the maintenance of standards of care and implementation of quality improvement
programmes within the department.
? Participate in the departmental academic and training programme/s,
? Assist with the administration of a component of the Neonatal department
? Participate in the departmental activities for the development and training of undergraduate, post
graduate and vocational students, including joining the University of Kwazulu-Natal (UKZN) as a
member of the Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Clinical Medicine, Department of
Paediatrics & Child Health
? Assist and participate in research activities as defined within the department
? Performance of commuted group 3 overtime within the Pietermaritzburg Metropolitan Paediatric
Complex
