Requirements :
:PND1: Diploma/Degree in Nursing Education. Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Psychiatry. Minimum of 4 years appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after registered as a Professional Nurse. PND2: Degree in Nursing Education. Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Psychiatry. Minimum of 14 years appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after registered as a Professional Nurse, at least 10 years of the period must be appropriate experience in Nursing Education after obtaining 1 year post basic qualification in Nursing Education. For both grades,(the candidate must have: Minimum of 2 years? experience in psychiatric environment or counselling services. Experience in counselling department in an educational institution will be an added advantage. Must have a valid driver license. Computer certificate/literacy/skills. Project and management skills including guidance. Verbal and writing skills such as presentation and report writing. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure, problem solving, conflict management and decision-making skills.
Duties :
Participate in marketing, recruitment and selection processes of prospective candidates. Plan, coordinate and manage student counselling, support and development programmers. Plan and presentation of study and life skills to improve academic performance. Promotion of general welfare, personal and professional development of students. Assessment and referral of individual students with personal/social problems to relevant stakeholders. Plan and execution of induction of newly appointed students. Participate in research relevant to Nursing Education, Policy development review and evaluation of student support programs. Student advocacy, support guidance to the Student Representative Council. Work well in a team. General support of students in clinical environment for adjustment purposes. Engage in own continuous professional development (CPD). Perform any other duty delegated by supervisor
