To ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical tuberculosis laboratory services, the Laboratory Information Officer provides crucial support to the laboratory through accurate reporting, proficient data management, and administrative duties within the framework of TASK Laboratory's activities for clinical drug trials and associated studies. The role will be responsible for maintaining key software and overseeing the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), across all TASK Laboratory operations. The Laboratory Information Officer will provide internal support and training to TASK Laboratory staff, as well as serving as a vendor to all TASK sites and commercial clients. The role includes managing TASK Laboratory data transfers to sponsors, facilitating the setup of trials and studies on DISA / Excel, resolving data queries, and conducting data analyses and interpretations.
Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Setting up trials in the LIMS and conducting trial validations.Drafting and reviewing Data Transfer Specifications / Agreements.Programming of Data Transfers according to the DTS / DTAs.Programming of Data Manual Reviews or Edit Checks in Data Transfers.Managing the vendor relationship for the assigned system at the appropriate level.Performing software User administration, Licensing, and configuration management.Reviewing software upgrades, patching, and completing deployment testing.Analysing data extracts for any missing data and ensuring missing data due will be entered before scheduled transfer.Resolving site result queries by actively liaising with sites.Investigating and resolving sponsor study-specific queries on laboratory data under the guidance of the technical and operations manager with any sponsor related data queries.Attending all sponsor data meetings as a lab representative.Liaising with clients to resolve data-related issues, maintaining a positive image of the organization, and promoting the service of the laboratory.Assisting with providing reporting data when required, such as annual management reports.Archiving of laboratory data, laboratory project and / or quality files relating to data generated (electronic or paper) as per contractual / regulatory requirement.Communicating promptly to Management and Laboratory Quality Manager on any breach in data matters and quality issues.Ideal Requirements Relevant Scientific qualification (BSc (Hons) / BTech, or similar).At least 2 years' experience working in a laboratory, preferably microbiology.Knowledge of or experience in CDMS / LIMS / CTMS required.Knowledge of CDISC Standards i.e., SDTM (Advantageous).Essential – Programming skill in at least one data programming language i.e., SQL / R / SAS / Python / VBA / MS Power Query i.e., Power BI etc.Key Personal Inherent Characteristics Attention to detail, high standard of quality and problem-solving skills.Ability to develop trusting and meaningful relations and always be professional.Highly developed resilience to work in a hi-performance pressurised role.Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.Able to embrace change in an ever-changing environment.Good team player.Area:Parow, Cape Town
