Internal Control Specialist (General)

Job Purpose To Manage the internal control verification service, co-ordinating specific processes to support the formulation of a detailed verification plan and programme and recommend improvements to the internal controls in terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act No. 56 of 2003.

Key Responsibility Areas Supervising all aspects of the internal control sub-section.
Co-ordinate and control processes and procedures associated with the formulation of a comprehensive verification plan and programme.
Supervise and review areas of financial management.
Plan, co-ordinate and supervise ad-hoc projects.
Prepare detailed management reports.
Supervise the central creditors payment process.
Communicate and reporting on internal control findings.
Control the security of blank cheque stationery.
Authorise cash payment advices and wage vouchers.
Performance and personnel management.
Direct and control the compilation of procedures manuals.

Tertiary qualification (NQF Leve 7) in financial Accounting and Auditing.
Must be in possession of National Treasury MFMA minimum competency qualification (NQF 6) or Must obtain a National Treasury MFMA minimum competency qualification (NQF6) within 18 months of date of date of appointment.
Valid motor vehicle driving.
5 Years experience in Financial Accounting and Auditing of which 2 years must be at a supervisory
Computer Literacy.
Preferred Requirements Post graduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Financial Accounting and Auditing
Completed SAICA Articles or LLASA-IAT and GIA.
6 Years relevant experience of which 3 years should be at a supervisory level.
