Details of the offer

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Key responsibility areas would include:
Labour relations: Maintaining sound labour relations in the plant; regular interface/meetings with shop stewards; assisting with grievance and disciplinary processes.
Attending CCMA/ DRC cases (Conciliation/Arbitration)
Skills development: Training needs analysis, drafting training plans and budgets, identifying training inventions such as learnerships to meet training needs; sourcing of training providers, completion and submission of skills reports to MERSETA, applying for discretionary grant funding, etc.
Employment equity: Submission of employment equity reports to DOL; conducting regular employment equity committee meetings.
Recruitment: Drafting of internal vacancy notices; liaising with temporary employment services; HR representative for all hourly paid position interviews, etc.
Employee induction: Induction of all new employees and relative administrative requirements.
Payroll: Hourly and salaried payroll input; leave administration, etc.
Employee benefits: Administering medical aid and provident fund benefits; annual medical aid presentations and changes, etc.
Reporting: Assisting with various HR weekly and monthly reporting requirements.
Community service: Planning and implementing community service projects for the plant.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Relevant tertiary education (e.g. Degree in Social Sciences)
RELATED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years relative experience in a generalist HR Officer role.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of VIP payroll leave module and Peoplesoft exposure would be advantageous.
Ability to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
