Description A great opportunity to join the Multi Manager business of Old Mutual Wealth as the Head: Manager Research. The role is responsible to provide overall strategic direction for the Manager Research process. The incumbent will manage the research team to ensure accountability of deliverables to highest standards and agreed processes.Key responsibilities include:Strategic Oversight and Design:Provide overall strategic direction for the Manager Research process.This would require but not be limited to developing and documenting on the:Philosophy of Manager Research (Global and Local)Processes within Manager Research (with clear definitions and expectations of deliverables from the Qualitative and Quant sub processes)Develop the standardised templates for internal and external reporting of the Manager Research outputs – showcasing the process and competitive advantage of the OMMM Manager Research process.Optimising the process for scale and leverage.Operational Management:Manage the research team to ensure accountability of deliverables to highest standards and agreed processes.Maintain regular review sessions to test failures/fragilities of the various elements the of the sub processes.Develop and maintain strict cadence of fit for purpose meetings for the sub functions of the research process.Develop and maintain strict cadence of manager engagements (formal and informal) – with relevant documentations post all engagements.Own the external manager relationships from an operational perspective – may delegate portions of this to the various research analysts.Innovation and Adaptation:Lead efforts in incorporating new research methods, new technologies and analytical tools into the research process.Foster a culture of thought leadership, innovation and continuous improvement.Team Leadership and Development:Provide leadership and direction to the research team, fostering an environment of trust, accountability, excellence, collaboration, client centricity, professional development, and high performance.Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with the CIO, Portfolio Construction and Asset Allocation teams to provide input for portfolio design and strategy.Also, engage with Clients to provide insights and explanations regarding manager selection and performance.Qualification, Skill and Experience:BCom / CA / CFA / MBA - Post Grad in Financial Industry.8+ years investment experience.Multi Management 3+ years.High level of accountability and ownershipExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsSkillsEducationClosing Date10 May 2024
