G4S Secure Solutions (SA), a leading provider of integrated security management solutions, has a vacancy for a General Manager based at our operations in Gauteng.
Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the General Manager coordinates the provision of contractual and ad hoc security services to customers within the region, in compliance with legislation, company policies and procedures, to ensure achievement of budgeted financial targets.
The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgement in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which Operations plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.
Role Responsibility:Effective Management of the Regional Financial Performance in order to Deliver Expected Results Manage the relationship between actual results, budgets, and forecastsInitiate cost-saving model and controlsGross Margin ManagementDelivery of expected growth targetsEnsuring customer retentionManage the Region's cash flowEffective Management Staff within the Region Effective OrganisationLeadershipEnsuring that acceptable standards of behavior at work are maintained by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S's code of conduct and disciplinary codeEnsuring that all disciplinary actions are conducted in compliance with Company policies and proceduresEffective management of operations Client retention and customer service levelsQuality Management/Ops Process management – adherence to the quality standardShared Best PracticeEffective Management of Business Development Function New business developmentCustomer needs analysisCompetitors evaluationsManaging and shaping the external environmentCompany image and brandImplementation and Integration of the HSSEC Strategy and Culture within the Business Unit Embed health and safety awareness and responsible behavior with the operational team, through consistent focus on health and safety compliance and disciplineDrive health and safety awareness down to supervisory level through communication, enforcement of guidelines and principles, reporting and trainingHighlight health and safety examples, both good and bad, to reinforce the message and drive to achieve zero harm within our businessMonitor and reduce the number of health and safety incidents. Oversee investigations into incidents and related matters, both to address non-compliance and to reinforce awarenessHealth and Safety Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each yearParticipate in safety forums created by the company for example safety meetings and safety talksReport all safety incidents to the relevant peopleDiscuss all safety incidents on all levelsFollow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/managementAttend safety education and refresher programsComply with safety policies and procedures at the workplaceDistribute safety information as and when requiredWear protective clothing all the timeThe Ideal Candidate:Qualification and Experience Relevant qualification in general management or similarMinimum of 3 to 5 years' management experiencePrevious specialized industry experience recommendedProven experience in Customer Relationship ManagementP&L and management reportingSecurity operations managementRelevant HR legislation, disciplinary and best practicesBusiness DevelopmentSkills and Attributes Awareness of the market environmentDelivering strategyDriving changeLeading peopleDelivering performanceWorking with complexityManaging professionallyCustomer thinkingCollaborating and co-operating
