General Ledger Accountant

OverviewOverview  Our general ledger accountant will provide a wide variety of accounting services to the business and be responsible for the postings in the general ledger of various entities. The general ledger accountant will report to the Financial Controller.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries (including but not limited to accruals, prepayments, customer rebates, deferred costs, depreciation and adjustments) and ensure proper general ledger coding Perform account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are accurateReconcile accounts with the general ledgerSupport Business Unit Heads with monthly reviews of costs, reporting any fluctuations and variances against budgetLiaise with external book-keepers for certain entities to provide AP, AR and indirect tax informationReview P&L to identify items that should be capitalised or prepaidMonthly reconciliation of inventoryCollaborate with internal departments to gather, analyse and interpret relevant financial information.Assist the Financial Controller with year-end audit requests and statutory reporting.Improve existing financial controls and assist in standardising them globallyCompletion of periodic surveys issued by the Office For National Statistics/other Government reportingUpdate documentation and business processes and proceduresAssist other departments with accounting issues and queriesAny other ad hoc tasks as required to ensure timely and accurate financial reportingQualificationsQualifications and Experience Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) At least 2 years' experience in general ledger accounting, preferably within a multinational organisation.Excellent collaboration and communication skills.Ability to work remotely with teams across the globe.Superb time-management and organisational skills.Detail oriented and must work effectively and efficiently under time pressure with minimal supervision.Team player and ability to motivate other team members.Proficiency in accounting and business management software, such as Navision/Microsoft Dynamics.
