News24 is looking for a passionate, digital-savvy food journalist with a passion for food, restaurants, and cooking. This job is for a young, creative journalist who wants to make a name as a food influencer on South Africa's most trusted website.Job OutputsThe successful candidate will: Write high-quality content, including recipes, for News24 Food.Create other high-quality journalism for News24 Food, including video, audio and social media content.Create and manage News24 Food's social media platforms.Update specific sections of the site a directed by the food editor.Stay abreast of cutting-edge developments in the local and international food industry.Assist the editor with content campaigns.Skills and competenciesExcellent writing and editing skills.An excellent understanding of and passion for the South African food industry.A sound understanding of digital publishing and the subscription business.The ability to create food content in different mediums (text, audio and video).Knowledge of CMS systems and best practice in social media, particularly on Instagram, Tik Tok and Pinterest.Excellent attention to detail.Strong communication and time management skills.A thorough understanding of the local food audience.Respect for high standards of journalistic ethics.Qualifications and experienceJournalism or relevant tertiary qualification.At least three years of experience as a journalist at a digital publication.Solid portfolio of food and wine journalism.Given the employment equity policy of Media24, preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups.
