Financial Accountant

Our client, a well-known fruit packaging company in the Overberg is seeking to employ an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team. Responsibilities & DutiesPerforms general cost accounting and other related duties in the finance departmentPrepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statementsMaintains the general ledgerCodes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly booksReconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banksReconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collectionsVerifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accountsAssessing, capturing of information onto the relevant accounting programmesReporting, feedback, record keeping of reports and administrative supportImplementation & maintaining of relevant audit programs & verificationsAid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelinesHandle sensitive information in a confidential mannerAnalysing data collected in order to determine the state of the company's financial healthAnalysing data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenueProvides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform various auditsFiles required tax forms with relevant authoritiesPerforms other related duties as assigned Skills and Competencies requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skillsMeticulousComputer literate – MS Word, Excel, Pastel & Sage AccountingThorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliationExperience in the fields of accounting or finance & auditComputer – Reports – Admin intensiveMinimum qualifications and ExperienceBCom or equivalent qualificationCompleted SAICA/SAIPA articles will be beneficial5-7 years relevant experience in finance and related servicesExperience in agriculture related industries will be beneficial If you feel you meet the core criteria, kindly apply online.  If you have not received feedback within 2 weeks of the closing date, please consider your application as having been unsuccessful. Closing date: 22 February 2023
