Finance Manager Save | Email | Print | PDF Remuneration: Market related Location: Johannesburg, Sandton Education level: Degree Job level: Mid Own transport required: Yes Travel requirement: Occasional Job policy: Employment Equity position Type: Permanent Company: Primedia Broadcasting Job descriptionAccounting managementFinancial reportingAchieves the timely recording of all transactions and the preparation of all financial reports.Manages monthly closing and controls the flow of data into the general ledger.Reviews forecast variance reporting ensuring quality financial information is issued to management.Reviews and if required, prepares various monthly, quarterly and annual fiscal reports, including income statements, balance sheets, forecasts and budgets.Ensures BEE supplier and other relevant information is updated in the software tool every month.Manages all reporting requirements to Management ensuring reports are delivered according to the reporting timetables and the reports are accurate.Develops an understanding of profitability of client business and provides responsible feedback using KPIs.Develops new systems and processes to adapt to new reporting requirements.Business managementReviews work product of finance department to ensure accuracy and completeness, using own discretion which includes but is not limited to:Management files and reconciliationsVatReleases (Finance and Salaries)Ensures that the organization's cash flow is adequate to meet its commitments.Manages various payments and allocations which includes but is not limited to:InsuranceAudit FeesSupervises staff and delegates daily work assignments based on own knowledge of department priorities.Protection of Company assetsProtects corporate assets through sound accounting policies and procedures which include:Provision for insurance coverProtection of business assets and loss prevention through strong internal controls and reviewsMaintenance of bank relationshipCredit and collection management in a timely fashionDesigns, implements and maintains Internal Controls in line with the relevant requirements for finance.Ensures accountants prepare balance sheet reconciliations that are up to date, clear and issues promptly dealt with. For example, credit card reconciliations properly accounted for.Responsible for overrides and manages changes to the accounting system.AuditManages the annual audit in conjunction with the CFO.Reviews the AFS prepared by the accountants prior to issue to the auditors and CFO.TaxationReviews all VAT returns ensuring compliance with latest legislation.Ensures all VAT balance sheet accounts are reconciled, and any unreconciled items are brought to the attention of the CFO, and promptly dealt with.Promptly informs relevant parties of changes to VAT legislation to ensure future compliance.Client serviceEnsures all departments and managers have access to information required in a user friendly and efficient manner.Advises where issues may arise in relation to procedures.Aids in the interpretation of the profitability and financial status of clients and jobs.Continually reviews client requirements and assesses delivery against them, improving procedures where possible.Department management and efficiencyResponsible for supervising a work unit which comprises of various responsibilities i.e. debtors, creditors, cashbook and WIP (if applicable).Assigns general responsibilities and monitors performance of the department.Reviews work performed by the work unit, for accuracy, quantity, timeliness and adherence to prescribed procedures and prepares reports of subordinate activity which is reviewed by the CFO.Confers with the CFO and makes recommendations on how to improve processes to increase efficiency and procedural alternatives.Provides feedback to the CFO regarding improvements that could be made to the department and broader organisation.Responsible for selection of staff that have the right skills for the job and fit into the culture of Primedia BroadcastingRequirements Five to seven years’ experience in an accounting functionCA (SA) with at least three years post articlesExperience in consolidationExcellent numerical skillsExcellent organizational abilityVerbal and written communication skillsCreation of a strong team environment and positive working cultureProactive support Chief Financial Officer and flexibility with ad hoc requestsMicrosoft (Excel, Word, etc.)Posted on 22 Sep 15:39 Create your CV once, and thereafter you can apply to this ad and future job ads easily.
