Cedar Wood Recruitment is now recruiting for an EXECUTIVE/HEAD CHEF position at an internationally acclaimed private game reserve in the Great Karoo near Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and have excellent and consistent attention to detail. He or she will be guest focused, have a positive outlook, be an excellent team player, committed, hardworking and eager to learn. Key Performance Areas Overall responsibility for the standards of the food productBe responsible for the development and training of staff (chefs) to increase their individual skills and ensure promotion when possibleManage all administrative departmental duties (staff files, off day schedule, hygiene standards etc)Create seasonal menus based on guests in house and produce in storePresentation according to Company standardsTake the food product to the next level in all areas (dishes, guest experiences etc.)Excellent stock controls, ordering processes and stock rotationProactive maintenance of all kitchen equipmentExcellent and regular communications with staff and suppliersAll food going out to guests at any time to be checkedMeet all guests on arrival as much as possibleExcellent and regular interaction with guests: build relationships and invite feedbackBe aware of and make your chefs aware of special dietary needs (staff and guests)Good interaction/communication: invite feedback; exchange ideas; be suggestion-friendly; share experienceGood discipline and fair treatment in department and lodge overall: be a role modelRequirements: Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience Must have formal culinary qualifications and at relevant experience, ideally in a 5-star operationPassion for food and the food experienceAbility to lead a team of people effectivelyStrong management skills, day-to-day, and long termThe ability to motivate staff to consistently deliverAbility to think and act creatively within a teamGood knowledge of hospitality operations including butler service, housekeeping and laundryComputer SkillsPersonal/Professional Attributes Passion for creating fabulous guest delight – genuine interest in people and satisfactionGood interpersonal skills – open and approachableDiligent, meticulous and self-motivated to meet deadlines and keep on top of your jobWillingness/ability to share information and teach and inspire othersBright, enthusiastic, energetic and caring personalitySmart, clean, presentable appearance.Remuneration and Package R20 000Full live-in position including accommodation and mealsGood benefits including Provident Fund (applicable after 3 months' probation)Couples welcome depending on meeting criteria for other available positionsFurther details will be discussed at the client interviewNB: Please regularly check email INBOX and SPAM folders for an interview invitation should your application be viewed favourably
