The Opportunity We are looking for an Environmental Officer to join our Compliance Monitoring team on a full time, permanent basis in Queenstown or Alexandra.
The purpose of the role is to provide professional, legally and technically sound services to ORC for resource consent auditing under the main legislation the Council is responsible for. The Council's statutory compliance and enforcement functions are determined by the Resource Management Act, the Building Act, and Regional Plans.
As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for:
Undertaking auditing and assessing compliance with resource consentsPromoting compliance through the provision of sound advice and information to the publicGiving presentations to the public to aid in their understanding of, and compliance with, statutory responsibilities of the CouncilResponding to pollution complaintsCollaborating with other Environmental staff to develop and maintain processes for quality assurance checking as requiredIf you are interested in working to protect our environment in both proactive and reactive ways, then this is the role for you!
About You Our ideal candidate will have:
