Decorative Stitch Seamstress

Job Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Decorative Stitch Seamstress to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating unique and beautiful decorative stitches on a variety of fabric surfaces. This individual will be responsible for adding decorative elements through techniques such as embroidery, quilting, and appliqué.

This position is based at our Cape Town DC in Epping.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create decorative stitches on garments, accessories, and textiles using various techniques such as embroidery, quilting, and appliqué
- Deliver high-quality decorative stitch work that meet expectations
- Select appropriate threads, needles, and embellishments for each project
- Operate sewing machines, sergers, and other equipment to execute decorative stitch work
- Ensure all finished products meet quality standards and are free of defects
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment

Technical Requirements:
- Proven experience as a seamstress with a focus on decorative stitching
- Strong knowledge of different decorative stitch techniques and materials
- Ability to interpret design concepts and translate them into decorative stitch work
- Proficiency in using sewing machines, sergers, and other equipment
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for quality
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Creative and innovative mindset
- Ability to work independently and take initiative

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal training in sewing and decorative stitching techniques preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a seamstress with a focus on decorative stitching
