Job Description Your Role and Responsibilities Conduct day to day continuous administration of DB2 on Linux-Unix-Windows (not just MainFrame), Administer DB2 utility and application framework and building solution for DB2. Install, upgrade and patch production DB2 databases. Install, upgrade, patch DB2 utility application framework products. Conduct performance tuning of high scale databases and clustered applications, fixing the issues reported in systems. Required Technical and Professional Expertise • 5+ Years of experience in DB2 DBA with Replication (DB2 LUW) • Database Installation and Configuration: Installing and configuring Db2 LUW database software on servers. • Performance Tuning: Monitoring and optimizing database performance to ensure efficient operation. • Backup and Recovery: Implementing and testing backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity. • Security Management: Managing user access and ensuring database security through proper authentication and authorization processes. • Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including errors, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems. • Database Design: Collaborating with developers to design and implement database structures that meet application requirements. • Patch and Version Management: Applying patches and updates to keep the database system current and secure. • Capacity Planning: Estimating future database growth and planning for additional capacity as needed. • Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides. • Collaboration: Working with other IT professionals, such as system administrators and application developers, to ensure smooth integration and optimal performance. • Automation: Implementing automation scripts and tools for routine tasks to enhance efficiency. • Monitoring: Setting up and maintaining database monitoring tools to identify issues proactively and trends. • Training: Providing training and support to end-users and colleagues on database-related matters. • Compliance: Ensuring that the database environment complies with relevant regulations and standards. • Disaster Recovery Planning: Developing and testing disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss in the event of a system failure. • Creates physical database objectives following established standards and processes employed by database team. • Provides support of production database environments. Requirements Required Soft Skills • Experience in project management methodologies is desired including ability to estimate, plan, manage and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan, i.e., a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources • Working knowledge of at least one database management system or a proven ability to learn new technologies and use that knowledge effectively • Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to and participate with peers/team members • Basic knowledge of operating systems and systems administration concepts • Personal commitment to stay current with the latest technology concepts • Good problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills • Identifies and resolves less clearly defined problems using established procedures and/or protocols as guidelines.
