Community Officer, C4 Seriti, New Denmark Colliery, Mpumalanga Internal & External Ref no: SON_NDC032/24GS Closing date: 10 May 2024 The role: The purpose of this role is to assist with the implementation and delivery of the company social performance strategy and performance standards whilst ensuring the maintenance of the operation's social license to operate.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to: Coordinate community forums and represent the operationCollate information from business partnersUpdate and monitor the targetsMonitor implementation of LED projectsEnsure that the progress of projects is communicated to all relevant stakeholdersIdentify, communicate, and monitor the mine social risks, Voluntary Principles and Human Rights risksManage satisfactory close out of community complaints at the operationAssist with the planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating of activities of the community development programsAssist with the review and administration of CSI requests, site visits to confirm CSI requests and needs, submission and reporting to the CSI Governance CommitteeCommunity development administrative support: Scheduling meetings, process invoices, orders, and other administrative duties to support the teamAssist in embedding Seriti Brand and vision in the communityAssist in the coordination and submission of stakeholder engagement reports, commitment registers and other related community development reports as and when requiredParticipate in all internal and external regularity inspections and audits relating to community / enterprise developmentAssist in the implementation and coordination of Social Labour Plan (SLP) CommitmentsCoordinate the Future Forums with all relevant stakeholdersManage complaints and resolve conflict within the communities / stakeholdersIdentify community development training and mentorship needsLiaise with stakeholders to carry out community projectsRequirements: Advanced Certificate or Diploma in Social Sciences, Public Relations (NQF Level 6)Minimum 1 year experience in Community Development or a similar role in social performance fieldExperience in dealing with communitiesThorough understanding of local communitiesBasic knowledge of mining and other relevant legislation applicable to miningUnderstanding of mining industry and internal and external stakeholders or key role playersBasic knowledge of the BBBEE Code of Good Practices and Mining CharterGood knowledge of community structuresKnowledge of Policies relating to social performance, DMR reports formats, local development plans & integrated development plans, SLP and existing community engagement plans and corporate governanceValid driver's licenseProficient in MS Office SuiteIn possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of FitnessAdvantageous: Experience in the mining industryPlease note: Please use Google Chrome as default browser when applying to enable the attachment of documentsA CV with certified copies (certification within a 3-month period) of relevant qualifications, together with ID document & valid driver's license must be accompanied with your applicationAppointments will be made in line with Employment Equity targetsAll applicants are thanked for their interestApplications which have not been responded to within 30 days of closing date should be regarded as unsuccessfulCommunication will be with shortlisted candidates only
