The purpose of this position is to establish capability to design, engineer, procure and construct and build Chemical EnergeticPlantsKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:Develop and build up the Chemical Energetic capability as a strategic extenstion of the company's international Plant Engineering businessRecruit and form a strong knowledgeable, multi-disciplinary team from the international and local market to enable a quick success, thus ensuring the establishment of critical technologies in thecompanyLead the core Chemical Plant team to design, develop, construct, commission and integrate chemical production facilities in the Energetic Material EnvironmentImplement and offer the new capability to the market through the company's Sales department, in the fastest possible timeEstablish standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles andsafety regulationsEstablish correct specification of process equipment and relevant project documentationSearch, create and negotiate partnering agreements with industrial partners for the relevant business in South Africa and internationallyPrepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition, with the relevant data and calculation sheets for procurementAcquires the necessary technology base from which to manufacture company-related chemical plantsEnsure the implementation of the latest technologies and processes during the design and construction phases of chemical production facilitiesProvide innovate solutions, as alternatives, to the current product offering and to match international standardsDevelop control narratives and philosophy documentationMonitor construction and commissioning executionDevelop and implement design technology to maintain and improve performance of plant and equipmentPlans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in the chemical plantDirects maintenance of plants and coordinates requirements for new designs, surveys, and maintenance schedules for equipment and machineryPOST REQUIREMENTS:QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCEBeng/BSc Chemical Engineering or similar qualificationA minimum of 10 years applicable experience in chemical plant engineeringExperience with Change Management processes and Project ManagementDemonstrated experience with interaction with clientsMust have advanced knowledge of engineering and engineering design principlesMust have advanced understanding of contract management principlesMust have strong analytical and negotiating skillsDemonstrated experience in managing a business division, forming and leading a successful high-calibre teamPERSONAL ATTRIBUTESExperience in executing, constructing and commissioning chemical production facilitiesStrategic thinkingAn innovative and creative solution orientationStrong leadership abilitiesStrong negotiation and project management (planning and organising) abilitiesAbility to effectively interface with all levels of management with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to interact with local and international contactsThe role calls for a highly energetic, self-driven, independent, self-motivated person with excellentproblem solving and communication skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlinesand work under pressure.
