Conduct assessments and behavior-based coaching to ensure drivers and operators are equipped, prepared, and qualified to meet safety, operational, and customer standards.Minimum RequirementsMinimum qualification: Bachelors Degree, professional certifications are advantageous.Grade 12Experience in a similar role: Up to 5 yearsDuties & ResponsibilitiesConduct practical driver skills assessments prior to employment and make recommendations to the Contract Management team.Continuously assess current and prospective drivers' competencies and improve on shortcomings.Present training to learners, explaining and discussing content, clarifying terminology, and illustrating examples to ensure understanding and learning of course content.Test and evaluate drivers and operators on-route (where required).Perform regular in-cab assessments of drivers and operators.Identify training needs from incidents/accidents and recommend necessary training to meet performance standards, including retraining where necessary.Visit sites periodically to determine optimal entry, loading, offloading procedures, and exit routes.Adjust Journey Management plans based on assessments, site visits, and tools like Google Maps.Facilitate all Unit Standard, internal, and customer training content as required.Record and report all training interventions weekly.Conduct periodic and reinforcement safety training for staff.Implement new and ad hoc training interventions as directed by management.Use incident reports, Drive cam reports, telematics, and fuel consumption data to develop training plans to improve driving skills and prevent incidents, collaborating with the Senior Training Officer.Assist SHERQ teams with accident/incident investigations as needed.Manage documentation for certification purposes.Provide practical driving training to improve skills according to the company training matrix.Aim to change driver behavior through training and coaching.Facilitate safety meetings and stand-downs to promote safe driving practices.Train on vehicle types, trailer types, and loading/offloading procedures.Serve as contingency during crisis situations.
