Job Details

Job Purpose
Responsible for leading and coordinating day to day inbound and outbound cash logistics activities at a production site. Co-ordinates production site cash logistics activities including vehicle loading and despatch, resource management , vendor management and liaison with central cash supply chain planning & regional operations control teams for effective and efficient device maintenance and cash demand fulfilment according to plan. The job is ultimately accountable for ensuring day to day delivery of efficient and effective logistics services for the production site.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Operational Efficiency and Effectiveness
Reviews cash replenishment plans and provides feedback to central planning on local special events and/or incidents that might impact operational plans.
Coordinates and supervises onsite vehicle loading and despatch in conjunction with Cash in Transit (CIT) Vendor site management in accordance with specified vehicle schedules.
Resolves and/or escalates site specific service failures to vendors and or regional cash logistics office for resolution.
Analyses service failure trends, develops and implements effective corrective and preventive action.
Manages the deployment of ATM Custodians and First Line Maintenance resources for self service cash devices linked to the production site
Verifies and signs off site specific CIT vendor billing input for variable costs as per vendor SLA.
Coordinates verification and sign off for vendor billing input relating to self service device maintenance linked to production site as per SLA.
Coordinates and facilitates site specific daily, weekly and monthly cash logistics vendor performance review meetings for the production site.
Coordinates logging, tracking and closure of operational incidents requiring intervention by vendor or internal stakeholder
Maintains strong collaborative relationships with the Site Production Managers and their teams
Cost management and budgetary control, including the development and management of the site specific Cash Logistics budget and unit cost management and reporting against this. Manages staff costs and CIT variable costs with a focus on overtime cost.

Risk Management
Manages staff scheduling and working hours in compliance with the requirements of the Basic Conditions of Employment Action (BCEA).
Engages with site specific cash logistics vendors in respect of their staff working hours and ensures they comply with the requirements of the Basic Conditions of Employment Action (BCEA). Tracks and escalates non-compliance incidents to regional cash logistics manager.
Coordinates and conducts periodic Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspections of cash logistics vendor and bank owned vehicles and ensures timely resolution of findings thereof.
Ensures reporting and investigation of all OHS incidents relating to cash logistics operations for the production site.
Ensures cash logistics procedural compliance by vendors and staff for the production site. Includes ensuring provision of competent staff, compliance with all cash management procedures and completion of all required cash management and device maintenance documentation

People management
Providing direction, clarity and accountability to the team to deliver on business objectives

Monitors and manages the performance and development of staff within the area. This includes regular one-on-one feedback sessions, conducting mid-year and final performance appraisals as well as the moderation and relative distribution of all appraisals for the team.

Drives the talent review sessions and succession planning, in conjunction with human resources (for staff within the centre).
Fosters the transformation in the workplace and supports business in the achievement of the undertakings in the transformation scorecard, with specific attention to attaining targets as set by management to achieve relevant targets, e.g. the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) targets for Standard Bank by 2016.
Ensures staff are appropriately and consistently rewarded and recognised for their achievements and outputs.
Ensures that disciplinary action and grievances are addressed and aligned to Standard Bank policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualification and Experience
Diploma in Logistics / Engineering / Production

Logistics Management methods and principles
Broad knowledge of Standard Bank’s products, services, channels, measurement, data and organisational structure.
4 years supervisory experience in Logistics/Operations/Banking environment
5 years hands-on experience in a fast moving consumer goods or service industry.
Exposure to coordinating efforts of others through matrix structures
Exposure to high risk and high volume environments
Experience in managing vendor contracts / outsourced relationships

Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
Business knowledge and contribution - understands the production business and regional environment from an organisation, business unit and role perspective
Business process knowledge – has insight and understanding of business process, rules, procedures, process application of functional area
Operational execution - the management of the execution of a particular operation
Safety, health and environment – has insight and understanding of safety and health statutory and operational requirements as applied to own operation
People management - focuses and guides others in pursuing and achieving work related objectives according to the lean leadership and employee engagement principles
Risk management - timeously identifies and manages risk within their area of influence. Uses and / or develops and implements risk measurement and risk management systems, processes and policies within the business
Financial management - plans and manages the Bank's financial resources in line with sound financial principles and regulations
Enabling change – encourages others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing problems and opportunities. Facilitates the implementation and acceptance of change within the team.
