RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be responsible for: Administration and maintenance of the financial aid system;
Providing user support and training to all staff, in particular to the Financial Aid Office;
Testing of all new enhancements, bug fixes and new patches and upgrades before they are put into production;
Performing and assisting in audits relating to security controls and the validity of data;
Managing data including validation and data integrity;
Providing data and reports to users and managers.
Bcom degree with Accounting III;
Five years’ experience within a financial environment with proven experience in one or more of the following:
System administration.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Knowledge of financial principals, student account processes and procedures, financial aid principles and policies, and NSFAS;
Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel and e-mail packages);
PeopleSoft system experience;
Appropriate business writing skills;
Good time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks;
Drive for accuracy;
Ability to work under pressure and independently;
Ability to liaise effectively with clients and associates;
Negotiation and communication skills;
Analytical and problem solving skills.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
IT/ statistical data analysis qualification;
Five years’ recent working experience within a student financial aid environment;
Recent experience (at least 3 years) in NSFAS policies and procedures, with exposure to 2017 policy and procedure changes;
Thorough knowledge of finance systems and process within the context of a higher education institution;
Three years’ experience in PeopleSoft Finance modules and applications or similar ERP systems;
Three years’ experience in user support including training of staff on PeopleSoft.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent’s level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines.
