The Student Communications Manager will develop, maintain, and enhance the relevant sections of the communication strategy.
To oversee the implementation of that strategy, ensuring that communications to students are timely, informative, and engaging.Key Responsibilities:Maintain and enhance a strategic approach to student communications.Work closely with senior colleagues in Faculties, Student Recruitment, Admissions, Registry, etc., to understand the requirements of student communications and fulfill these accordingly.Manage the planning and execution of the student communications life cycle, ensuring communications are timely, informative, and engaging.Support the student engagement team with producing the quarterly student newsletter to increase the student voice within communications.Find ways to enhance the student communication channel, offering solutions for the most effective way to share key information.Lead the promotion of the National Student Survey to final-year students, ensuring a valid response rate.Support the Head of Communications with staff communications, including leading on specific projects and/or initiatives.Line management responsibilities to the Communications Officer.Manage the communications mailbox with support from the Communications Officer.Lead on communications content for students on Moodle.Contribute to internal communications plans to engage staff and students.Ensure there is blog content on the intranet each week with at least two new blogs added.Promote the GBS values and mission.Minimum Requirements:A degree or equivalent in communications or a related field.Understanding of communications specialism, with relevant experience in a communications role.Writing, editing, and proofreading to an excellent standard, with attention to detail.Proven track record of managing communications.Excellent time management and organization skills.A team player, supporting the Head of Communications to achieve the communications strategy.Initiative to lead on specific projects from start to finish.A personable character with the confidence to network.A thoughtful communicator who listens to colleagues and students.Desirable Skills and Experience:CIPR qualification.Extensive experience in an industry communications role.Experience of working in a small team for a multi-site organization.Commitment:The Communications Manager will also be expected to demonstrate their commitment to:GBS values and regulations, including equal opportunities policy.GBS's Social, Economic, and Environmental responsibilities and minimize environmental impact in the performance of the role, actively contributing to the delivery of GBS's Environmental Policy.Their Health and Safety responsibilities to ensure a safe and secure working environment for staff, students, and other visitors to the campus.
