The post offers opportunities to develop knowledge and skills in general dermatology and skin surgery and is ideally suited to someone seeking to work towards GPwER accreditation.The successful applicant will join a team of six consultants, another Specialty Doctor and Clinical Fellow, supported by a team of dermatology nurses, in providing a comprehensive dermatology service. We are a friendly, innovative and dynamic department. We want to offer all team members the opportunity to develop new skills, so that they can all contribute in a meaningful way to patient care and can find satisfaction and fulfilment in their work.We seek a personable team player, who will seek to develop our department according to their own experience and interests. The successful applicant will be responsible for their own cohort of patients but will work alongside consultant colleagues, providing mutual support during clinical sessions.We work in a pleasant modern building which has just been refurbished, and we are investing in two brand new NB-UVB phototherapy cabins. An exciting new development on the horizon is a 2 week wait teledermatology service, for which we will have appointed two dedicated medical photographers.Come and join our team!Main duties of the jobThe successful applicant will undertake general dermatology clinics and skin surgery lists. They will be responsible for their own cohort of patients but will be supported by consultant colleagues working alongside them. The postholder will work within the multi–disciplinary team providing and further developing care for the Trust's dermatology patients. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the department while having a commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.The postholder will join a team of six Dermatology Consultants (4.6 WTE), a Clinical Fellow and nursing staff working across the South Sites (mostly at Beckenham Beacon, but also at The Princess Royal University Hospital & Orpington Hospital).The post is based at Beckenham Beacon.The proposed 10 PA Job Plan is in the full Job Description, available as a supporting document. This will be reviewed within 3 months of the postholder commencing in post. There is no on-call commitment. Job plans may change to offer clinics at alternative sites within the Trust according to departmental requirements.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo provide a high-quality dermatology service. This includes all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department.Covering colleagues' periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other colleagues.Carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to CPD and clinical governance initiatives.Outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Divisional management team.Developing departmental research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.Contributing to audit and clinical governance programmes.Taking an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the department's / Division's Business Plan. This may include assisting with discussions regarding service plans and developments with internal and external agencies.Conducting all activities within the contracted level of service and operating plan for service(s).Exercising professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty. This will include ensuring that the momentum of post-qualification professional education and other appropriate training is maintained.Working in conjunction with clinical and other professional colleagues to ensure that the productivity of staff within the specialty is maintained and their job satisfaction is enhanced. This may include involvement in the appraisal process for peers and/or junior colleagues.Undertaking departmental management duties as agreed with the departmental Manager / Clinical Lead.Being aware of, and complying with, all Trust infection prevention and control policies, to include hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental and food hygiene.Preparing for and undertaking the protective interventions that you are responsible for in a manner that is consistent with evidence-based practice and maintaining patient safety.Person specificationQualificationsFull MRCP or MRCGP (including PACES) all completed.Full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC/GDCexperience4 years full time or part time postgraduate training (or equivalent)Minimum 2 years in a speciality training programme or as a fixed term speciality trainingWide experience in all aspects of dermatology.Employer certification / accreditation badgesYou must have appropriate UK professional registration.This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.#J-18808-Ljbffr
