Specialist: Just Energy Transition

A Postgraduate Degree in Energy/ Electrical/ Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field At least 8 years experience operating at a senior management level within a medium-to-large-sized organization At least 8 years experience in the energy sector, with experience in the energy transition and related matters, such as renewable energy Sound track record in effectively managing complex and sensitive stakeholder engagements at all levels (for example between public, private sectors and civil society).
Experience in working directly for a municipality/metro is an advantage; Experience in Local Government; A valid code 08 drivers licence and own vehicle; KEY PORTFOLIO AND PERFORMANCE FOCUS AREAS Develop positions and effectively lobby and advocate for enabling policy, legislation, regulations, institutional arrangements and fiscal framework for the local government Energy Transition focus areas Drive a Just Energy Transition strategy for SALGA including a strategy to facilitate relations and partnerships for the successful implementation of the JET Development a JET support and project implementation strategy across local government Provide support to the Head Electricity and Energy and Specialist Sustainable Energy, including expert inputs and developing organized local government positions on the JET.
Guide, support and provide expert advice to municipalities in the JET Provide support towards development and training in the JET Develop guidelines and tools to assist municipalities to fully participate and benefit from the JET.
Represent local government in the development of national and local policies in the area of the JET Be an expert resource in the JET to the Portfolio Head: Trading Services, Head Electricity and Energy, and to Provincial Senior Advisors Participate in governance structures.
