Job Purpose To lead and drive the resource reduction targets for the Standard Bank Group Real Estate Services property portfolio in order to reduce energy or water consumption, improve resource efficiency, diversify the energy supply mix, drive down energy and water costs and ultimately achieve occupant wellness by leading the Standard Bank Group towards connected sustainable buildings. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Technology & Architecture • Design and implement energy and alternative energy systems in Bank owned and/or Bank occupied buildings to ensure reliable and safe continuous operations. • Lead and drive the network architecture of the Energy Monitoring system, Bank secure networks, devices and software that link to form a functioning platform. Risk, Regulatory, Prudential & Compliance • Compile and develop insightful reports incorporating source data and industry views (e.g. white papers) from relevant stakeholders to present at forums where required to enable effective decision making as it relates to sustainability. • Provide up to date and accurate reporting to relevant forums, programmes and initiatives relating to energy or water management projects to keep all relevant stakeholders informed and enable effective decision making. • Compile and maintain resource risk assessments as well as driving mitigation activities of energy or water related risks to the Group's property portfolio. • Create and maintain Resource Management policies and documents to ensure adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements. • Develop, distribute and communicate Resource Management documentation that is aligned to the Group's direction and commitment to energy saving operations and driving down energy costs across the Standard Bank Group. • Develop, distribute and communicate Resource Management documentation that is aligned to the Groups direction and commitment to energy saving operations and driving down energy costs across the Standard Bank Group. • Develop and design the appropriate energy or water risk controls aligned to the regulatory and compliance requirements to ensure mitigation of risk and adherence to regulatory requirements. • Design and deliver fit for purpose communication, awareness and education initiatives to create a culture of sustainability within responsible stakeholders across the Standard Bank Group. • Provide specialist advice relating to energy management to ensure that business strategy and appetite for energy management is aligned to the strategic objectives of being a responsible corporate citizen and actively supporting renewable energy. • Provide guidance and expertise on energy management to the Group by attending appropriate meetings/events/forums. • Perform data analysis to determine direct resource consumption (e.g. Electricity, water and waste) across facilities in the Group in order to identify high risk areas and conduct selective resource audits and reviews to ensure compliance to policies and frameworks and mitigate risks for the Bank. • Identify areas of potential energy or water risk exposure and recommend remediation and risk mitigation strategies in order to effectively manage resource consumption for the Standard Bank Group. • Conduct market research to stay abreast about industry best practices and the latest developments in resource management in order to improve resource efficiency for the Group. Strategy • Drive energy or water saving projects for Standard Bank's Group Real Estate Services property portfolio in order to reduce consumption, improve efficiency, diversify the supply mix and reduce costs. Financial Management • Identify opportunities to reduce energy costs. • Develop, monitor and report on electricity and water financial budgets for various facilities in the portfolio in order to ensure sound financial discipline and control. Physical Infrastructure • Perform research, site analysis, energy audits, data analysis, technology evaluations, supplier evaluations, technology proposals and the development of project business cases in order to optimise the energy consumption across the Standard Bank Group. • Compile design specifications for equipment installations, energy management projects and initiatives, as well as all relevant maintenance contracts for energy management equipment. • Monitor and control the water or energy consumption, power quality meters and associated maintenance in Bank owned / Bank occupied buildings with the purpose to improve quality, security and minimise the total operation costs of an asset over its lifecycle. Preferred Qualification and Experience • An Electrical / Electronic degree is a minimum requirement. • A diploma as an Energy Management Practitioner. • Certification as Energy Manager (Association of Energy Engineers (CEM) & Certified Measurement & Verification Professional. • 5-7 years Real Estate Management • The role requires an individual that can make recommendations to senior and executive leaders on projects and actions required to reduce energy consumption. • Establish a culture of energy optimisation across the Standard Bank Group. • Lead external service providers Building Engineering The ability to determine the requirements for electricity, water, air conditioning and other aspects of buildings.
