Spar: Warehouse Trainee Programme X2 2020/21

SPAR KwaZulu Natal, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd is looking for two (2) Warehouse Trainees to participate in the two-year development programme at its Distribution Centre, located in Phoenix Industrial Park, Durban.

Duties & Responsibilities

The purpose of this programme is to obtain comprehensive warehousing and logistics knowledge and exposure in the food distribution environment, involving practical experience combined with formal studies and project work. The employment contract will last for the duration of the programme. Key Performance AreasThe successful incumbents will be trained on all facets of warehouse management in an effort to ensure that they have gained practical experience in the following key performance areas:

Successfully complete a Management Programme (During Year One)
Successfully complete a Logistics Management Programme (During Year Two)
Gain detailed exposure to all SPAR Warehousing and Logistics processes through the completion of on-the-job training, acquiring in-depth knowledge and skills about various areas.
Complete a minimum of projects related to SPAR Warehousing and Logistics.
Stand in or act in absence of Team Leaders when required.
Assisting in any other general duties in the department.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Matric
A Tertiary Qualification in Business/ Supply Chain/ Logistics Management
Previous exposure to logistics and/or warehousing and distribution will be advantageous
MS office skills (word, excel and PowerPoint, Email)
Good reference based on performance in current job (applicable to employed applicants)
Good numeracy, communication and listening skills (written and verbal)
Flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile
Time management skills and attention to detail
Goal orientated and self-driven to achieve results
Team Player – able to work with people and teams to achieve results
Good organisational skills with an ability to handle pressure
Most importantly a willingness to learn
