Job Description:

Responsibilities:
The role supports the Technical Operations team to operate, maintain, fault-find, repair and modify the software of high technology electro-optical instruments, as well as the plant instrumentation and related systems.Develop new software per specifications and compliant with standards and procedures
Do fault finding and bug fixes.
Do routine software maintenance and upgrades of the instruments, plant and equipment software.
Do acceptance testing of software as part of system commissioning
Interact with electronics and mechanical teams on development, upgrades and maintenance of all systems.
Interact with the staff regarding software issues before night-time operations commence
Prepare instruments, plant and equipment in time for night-time operations in concert with engineers and technicians
Software configuration control
Perform standby duties

Skills and knowledge requirements:National Diploma, B.Eng or BSc Degree in Electronics or Computer Science or a related field with 5 Years post qualification practical experience in the full Systems Development Life Cycle for instrumentation and/or industrial electronic applications.
Experience with control systems software.
Knowledge of PLCs and/or embedded systems
Knowledge of networked systems and experience in both Windows and Linux operating systems
Experience with Office applications.
Must be strongly motivated individuals with initiative and problem solving skills
Must be able to work effectively within a team and on his/her own with minimal supervision.
Must have good skills in oral and written English.
Applicant should hold a EB driver’s license.
Applicants should be comfortable with working at heights and not colour blind.

Other attributes that would confer an advantage:Post matric qualification not older than 10 years.

NI Labview, PLC, RTOS programming, and configuration for Siemens, Omron, Allen Bradley and National Instrument products
Understanding of industrial communication protocols
Understanding of object orientated programming
Understanding of database design
Understanding of AI and Machine Learning
Experience with AutoCAD
Good experience in fault-finding, instrumentation design and repair, electro-mechanical device integration, analogue and digital circuit integration
